The Kitchen Server

The Kitchen at The Houstonian Club is the member’s eatery to celebrate the joy of camaraderie and family gatherings, embracing the feeling of home. The menu was created thoughtfully with hearty and healthy options for all tastes. Open breakfast to dinner, The Kitchen becomes in the heart and soul of the socials at The Houstonian Club.

Position Purpose:

Assist members and guests with Food and drinks service.

Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Must be able to take food and drink orders correctly.
2. Must be able to ring up the orders correctly in the POS system.
3. Must be passionate about hospitality, food, and have menu knowledge. Able to describe all menu items, helping people have a great dining experience.
4. Must be able to identify food allergies and make proper recommendations.
5. Must be able to recommend food pairing with wine.
6. Delivers a memorable dining experience by resolving all customer issues promptly.
7. Needs to prepare guests drink orders and expedite food while food runner in not available.
8. Maintains table setting by removing courses as completed, replenishing utensils, refilling water glasses, and being alert to patron spills or other special needs.
9. Must be responsible for stocking up stations with all necessary supplies.
10. Assists with the tidying of tables, clearing leftovers, and keeping the dining areas neat and pleasant.
11. Servers must wear assigned uniforms. Must be clean and pressed with their own name tag.
12. Servers are responsible for doing their closing shift report as well as duties.
13. Protects establishment and patrons by adhering to sanitation, safety, and alcohol beverage control policies.

 Knowledge and Skills:

1. Must have ability to perform daily work at a high level of accuracy.
2. Must have alcohol beverages and wine knowledge.
3. Must be able to take direction well.
4. Must pay attention to detail.
5. Must feel comfortable memorizing orders and specials.
6. Must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills.
7. Must have professional appearance and behavior.
8. Must have interpersonal communication skills.
9. Must have proficient technology skills in the POS
10. Must be able to multitask without getting flustered.
11. Must perform all the duties and responsibilities in a safe manner.

Education and Work Experience:

1. High School Diploma is preferred.
2. Minimum one-year previous server experience in a fine dining restaurant
3. Must be 18 years of age and with current T.A.B.C. certification is preferred.

Work Environment:

1. Must be able to work in a team atmosphere.

Physical Requirements:

• Must be able to walk, stand and bend for extended periods of time.
• Must be able to serve drinks with cocktail tray.
• The hours of work vary depending upon business.
• Must be able to push, pull and lift 30 lbs or more.
• Must be able to see and read a computer screen and printed matter with or without vision aids.
