The Business Development Representative will serve as an integral part of the Sales team to grow sales by identifying business opportunities, strategically building relationships with customers, and working with the National sales team to close new business. This role is responsible for making sales calls independently to identify, pursue and win strategic and tactical new business opportunities. The ideal candidate for this position is a success driven hunter in pursuit of long-term sales career. The Howard Company is an employee-owned company with a 75-year track record of customer and employee success.
Key Responsibilities
Drive new business activity, participating wherever appropriate in the planning, implementation and follow-up of such activity.
Make cold calls and emails to decision makers to set up new client appointments.
Identify new prospects (company and contacts).
Develop sales plans and strategies to increase market penetration.
Utilize Customer Relationship Management (CRM) software for lead and project tracking.
Abide by all Howard Company rules and regulations as noted in the Employee Handbook.
Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
Minimum of 3 years of experience selling and lead generation experience, preferably in the signage industry.
Bachelor's degree in business or another related field.
Business development mentality with demonstrated success sourcing leads, qualifying opportunities, and closing deals.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships with clients and stakeholders at all levels.
Demonstrate a high level of energy, drive, enthusiasm, initiative, commitment and professionalism.
Strategic thinker with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
Proficient in CRM software and Microsoft Office programs.
Willingness to travel as required.
Physical Requirements
Ability to sit or stand for extended periods of time.
Manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination for typing, filing, and using office equipment.
Visual acuity and ability to read small print.
Hearing acuity and ability to communicate effectively with others.
Ability to occasionally lift items as heavy as 25lbs.
Ability to travel via airplane and drive an automobile.
Mobility and ability to move around the office as needed.
