What are the responsibilities and job description for the Legal Assistant position at The HT Group?
The HT Group is seeking a detail-oriented Legal Assistant to support our client with probates, wills, power of attorney, deeds, and light criminal cases. The ideal candidate will be proficient with legal documentation, TXdocs, calendar management, and MS Office tools (Word, Excel), as well as managing phones and emails. This is a contract to hire opportunity with an hourly rate of $30hr DOE.
Responsibilities :
- Assist with drafting and filing probate forms, petitions, and estate documents. Manage probate case files and coordinate with clients
- Draft and review power of attorney documents and property deeds. Prepare, file, and record necessary documents
- Assist with light criminal cases by preparing documents, motions, and subpoenas. Communicate with clients and court personnel
- Use TXdocs to retrieve document templates and prepare legal paperwork. Manage calendars for meetings, hearings, and deadlines. Handle correspondence, maintain client files, and use eFile for document submissions
- Answer phone calls, respond to client inquiries, and manage emails in a professional and timely manner
- Must have prior experience as a legal assistant or in paralegal role
- Familiarity with TXdocs, Microsoft Office (Word, Excel), eFile systems, and phone / email management
- Knowledge of probate, estate planning, and criminal law
- Strong communication, organizational, and multitasking skills
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and work independently
