What are the responsibilities and job description for the Animal Care Tech position at THE HUMANE SOCIETY FOR GREATER SAVANNAH?
The Humane Society for Greater Savannah is looking for one Adoption Counselor in our Adoption Center. This is a full-time position with PTO, group health, dental, and vision insurance, and an employee pet benefits program.
HSGS is a private, non-profit, no-kill animal welfare organization in Savannah, GA. Each year, HSGS finds homes for 2,500 animals and performs over 8,000 spay/neuter surgeries at our clinic Pet Fix Savannah.
This position provides humane care for sheltered animals by feeding, cleaning, providing enrichment, and caring for cats and dogs. Adoption Counselors will work with potential adopters to match them with the best adoption candidate and provide adoption counseling and education. Adoption Counselors will also work closely with our Veterinary team that provide treatments and care for illnesses or behavior modification.
Must be able to pass a drug screening.
Must be able to work Tuesday- Saturday.
QUALIFICATIONS:
• High school or equivalent education.
• Basic computer skills.
• Basic knowledge and ability to understand aspects of disease and the causes and treatment of animal related problems.
• Must be able to provide compassionate care for our animals.
• Critical evaluation and observation skills.
• Good communication and customer service skills.
• Must be able to lift and carry 50 pounds safely.
• Must be able to perform repetitive tasks.
• Understand and support the HSGS values, philosophies, and policies.
Must have experience working with animals.
