Welcome Center Manager
The Humane Society of Sarasota County (HSSC) is seeking a dedicated Welcome Center Manager to join our dynamic marketing team. In this crucial role, you will be responsible for delivering the external messaging that elevates our lifesaving mission. Whether through phone calls, social media, messaging platforms, or in-person communication, you will ensure our message resonates with the community, inspiring support for our work in animal welfare through adoption, volunteerism, contributions, and advocacy.
As a key leader, you will guide a team of staff and volunteers that represents the needs of visitors, potential donors, volunteers, fosters, and community members, ensuring their voices are heard by stakeholders within the organization. You will oversee communications at both our Adoption & Retail and Veterinary Services Welcome Centers, ensuring every interaction reflects our compassionate, mission-driven values. Your leadership will be essential in amplifying HSSC’s impact, helping to build and strengthen relationships that directly support our lifesaving efforts. Your leadership will empower our team to effectively use communication systems and organizational platforms, creating meaningful connections with all who support us.
Duties Include:
- Creating a welcoming and compassionate environment in both our Adoption and Retail and Veterinary Services Welcome Centers, ensuring every visitor feels valued and supported
- Overseeing staff and volunteer scheduling to maintain smooth operations and uphold our mission of animal welfare
- Leading by example with a positive, upbeat, and helpful attitude, fostering a compassionate and collaborative atmosphere for both staff and volunteers.
- Managing the timely review of inbound communications, advocating for inquiries from stakeholders and the public, and collaborating with internal teams to ensure prompt, caring responses.
- Maintaining and updating outbound messaging platforms, including Shelterluv, VitusVet, Evet, Mailchimp, Constant Contact, VolunteerHub, and the HSSC phone system, ensuring consistent and compassionate communication.
- Supervising and training staff and volunteers on client experience software and payment systems
- Managing inventory control, retail merchandise, and supplies for the community pet pantry in support of our mission to assist pets and their families
- Actively contributing to the marketing, events, and engagement team, assisting with both on-site and off-site events to promote our mission and strengthen community connections
- Actively supporting the adoptions department by checking in potential adopters and ensuring they are moving quickly through the adoption process
- Actively managing retail, EOD sales reports, ordering, and inventory
- Supporting workshops and classes
- Supporting the teen club and kids camps as needed
Qualifications, Knowledge & Skills:
- Associate’s degree or higher preferred, or equivalent experience in a service-oriented environment
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to be clear in all interactions.
- Compassionate, welcoming demeanor with a commitment to customer service and animal welfare
- Proficiency with social media and Meta Business Suite to help amplify our mission and engage the community
- Basic design skills using Canva or similar software to create visually engaging content
- Comfortable interacting with the general public, maintaining a positive and approachable attitude.
- Supervisory experience is a plus
- Advanced skills in Microsoft Office 365, ensuring efficient operations and communication
- Experience with Point of Sale systems, VolunteerHub, Shelterluv, VitusVet, and Evet is a plus but not required
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
- Exercises good judgment when addressing concerns from staff, volunteers, and the public, always with empathy
- Comfortable working with and around animals, demonstrating respect for their welfare
- Ability to support and communicate HSSC’s barrier-free adoption policies with understanding and care.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $25.00 - $27.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40 per week
