About the Role
The Library Special Collections Intern, Archival Processing and Reader Services will work directly with Archivist Brooke Black to process the Maps Series of the Henry E. Huntington papers. Working on this project, the intern will gain practical, hands-on experience arranging and describing rare archival material using archival software and library systems.
As a capstone project, the intern will create a new LibGuide for the Henry E. Huntington papers and other related collections in the Huntington Library. The intern will also cover desk rotations in the special collections reading room assisting researchers accessing rare materials. This is an ideal opportunity for an aspiring library or archives professional with an interest in rare books and archives, archival processing, visual materials, reference work, and library user experience.
Internship schedule: June 9- August 15, 2025. Monday through Friday 8:30am- 4:30pm (37.5 hours per week).

Candidate Requirements and Experience
- Be currently enrolled as a full-time undergraduate in either a bachelor’s degree program or an associate’s degree program. Students must have completed at least one semester or two quarters of college by June. Students who graduated the semester or quarter immediately before the internship begins are also eligible. (Students who are enrolled in a second BA or BS program are not eligible.)
- Attend college in or be a permanent resident of LA County; and
- Be a United States citizen or permanent resident (non-citizen authorized to live and work in the United States on a permanent basis; also known as a "green card" holder). Students with DACA (Deferred Action for Childhood Arrival) status valid through the internship period are also eligible.
Working Conditions
- The intern will be working alongside a team in a shared office space.
- Will occasionally walk around campus, indoors and outdoors in various weather conditions.
- Stipend: $7,150 total, to be paid out hourly.
