What are the responsibilities and job description for the Physician position at the Hurtt Family Health Clinic?
The Physician is responsible for providing primary medical care to all types of clinic patients. This position also provides direct and indirect clinical supervision of mid-level providers and provides support on complex medical care issues. The Physician participates in the supervision, training and development of mid-level providers, RNs, and medical assistants.
Hurtt is searching for a full-time Physician, but we may be open to discussing a part-time role of at least 20 hours per week. The best candidate for this position:
- is an accredited Medical Doctor and has completed clinical/residency requirements
- has a current CA Physician license, DEA number, & NPI number
- 2-5 years experience in a medical setting, preferably FQHC community clinic experience
- ability to foster a safe environment where people will feel comfortable to share private, pertinent information for effective treatment
- experience diagnosing and treating medical problems commonly experienced by homeless/underinsured patients
- understands the psychosocial factors involved in administering health services and treatment to homeless/underinsured patients
- ability to communicate in Spanish in the health care environment (preferred, not required)
- has admitting privileges at various Orange County hospitals
What You'll Do:
Job Responsibilities & Duties
- Provide direct patient care for all clinic patients with scope of practice.
- Document all patient encounters thoroughly in the EMR system to meet standards of practice and all required UDS, CQMs and HEDIS measures within 24 hours.
- Maintains Physician License, and DEA License, NPI Number: submitting proof annually.
- Identifies Quality Assurance issues and works with Clinic stakeholders to make corrective actions and necessary improvements including but not limited to directing quality improvement activities and serving as a Member of the Quality Assurance Committee.
- Required to maintain a flexible schedule which may include evenings and weekends, mobile outreach clinics and promotional or educational events.
- Provide oversight of employed and volunteer mid-level providers in a manner consistent with the State of California Laws and Regulations. This includes appropriate chart review while maintaining supervisory accessibility. Chart reviews to be documented.
- Provides on-going training for employed mid-level providers to increase their effectiveness and base of knowledge.
- Reports and responds to complaints regarding clinical care, resolving any complaint with expediency and in a professional manner in coordination with staff.
- Participates in the formulation of policies and procedures on all aspects of clinical care.
