We are looking for a Mobile Hybrid Battery Installer to join our team. This role involves traveling to customers’ locations, installing hybrid batteries, and managing inventory records at your designated facility. Training will be provided to ensure your success in this role.

About the Role

As a Mobile Hybrid Battery Installer, you will travel to customer locations to install hybrid batteries, troubleshoot battery issues, and submit accurate inventory reports. This role requires physical labor, a customer-focused mindset, and the ability to troubleshoot battery issues through our communication system.

Responsibilities include:

  • Installing reconditioned, new, or genuine hybrid batteries in customer vehicles.
  • Troubleshooting battery issues via internal communication channels.
  • Submitting inventory records to ensure accurate stock updates.
  • Maintaining assigned storage facility, ensuring proper inventory organization and FIFO compliance.
  • Ensuring personal vehicle is equipped with a Hybrid Geek car magnet and uniform (polo and hat) when working.

Key Responsibilities

Hybrid Battery Installation

  • Perform high-quality installations of hybrid batteries in customer vehicles.
  • Handle batteries that weigh between 80-140 pounds, with most on the lower side of 80 pounds.
  • Tools required to have/purchase: Deep Sockets (8mm, 10mm, 12mm); Socket Extension; Ratchet; Automotive Clip Removal; OBD II Scanner; Jumper Cables; Jump Starts
  • Follow safety protocols for handling and installing hybrid batteries.

Mobile Service & Customer Interaction

  • Travel to customer locations for installations and provide excellent customer service.
  • Communicate with customers and answer basic installation-related questions.

Inventory Management & Facility Maintenance

  • Submit accurate inventory records for each installation.
  • Ensure storage facilities are organized and comply with FIFO inventory protocols.

Vehicle & Safety Compliance

  • Use personal vehicle (preferably with ample space and fuel efficiency) to transport tools, equipment, and hybrid batteries.
  • Maintain vehicle cleanliness and safety while on the job.

Physical Requirements

This role requires regular heavy lifting. Hybrid battery units weigh between 80-140 lbs, and proper lifting techniques and equipment will be provided. Candidates must be comfortable handling physically demanding work.

Compensation & Benefits

Hourly Rate:

  • $35 per hour for drive time (one way).

Installation Pay:

  • $75 for standard installs (80 pounds).
  • $100 for heavier installs (140 pounds).

Per Diem:

  • $125 for overnight trips.

Vehicle Requirements:

  • Use of personal vehicle (must have Hybrid Geek car magnet on both sides and uniform).

Compensation Breakdown Examples

Example 1: Raleigh, NC → Atlanta, GA (Round trip, overnight stay)

  • Drive Time (One Way): 5 hours * $35/hour = $175
  • Installation (Standard SKU - 80 lbs): 4 installs * $75/install = $300
  • Drive Time Between Appointments (1 hour between each install): 3 hours * $35/hour = $105
  • Per Diem: $125
  • Total Compensation (before gas): $175 (Drive Time) $300 (Installations) $105 (Drive Time Between) $125 (Per Diem) = $705
  • Estimated Gas Expense: $60
  • Total After Gas: $645
  • Total Hours of Work: Drive Time (14 hours) Install Time (4 hours) = 18 hours
  • Net Hourly Rate (after gas): $645 ÷ 18 hours of work = $35.80/hour

Example 2: Raleigh, NC → Nashville, TN (Round trip, overnight stay)

  • Drive Time (One Way): 6 hours * $35/hour = $210
  • Installation (Extra SKU - 140 lbs): 2 installs * $100/install = $200
  • Drive Time Between Appointments (1 hour between each install): 1 hour * $35/hour = $35
  • Per Diem: $125
  • Total Compensation (before gas): $210 (Drive Time) $200 (Installations) $35 (Drive Time Between) $125 (Per Diem) = $570
  • Estimated Gas Expense: $70
  • Total After Gas: $500
  • Total Hours of Work: Drive Time (14 hours) Install Time (2 hours) = 16 hours
  • Net Hourly Rate (after gas): $500 ÷ 16 hours of work = $31.25/hour

Example 3: Raleigh, NC → Baltimore, MD (Round trip, no overnight stay)

  • Drive Time (One Way): 4.5 hours * $35/hour = $157.50
  • Installation (Standard SKU - 80 lbs): 3 installs * $75/install = $225
  • Drive Time Between Appointments (1 hour between each install): 2 hours * $35/hour = $70
  • Total Compensation (before gas): $157.50 (Drive Time) $225 (Installations) $70 (Drive Time Between) = $452.50
  • Estimated Gas Expense: $50
  • Total After Gas: $402.50
  • Total Hours of Work: Drive Time (12 hours) Install Time (3 hours) = 15 hours
  • Net Hourly Rate (after gas): $402.50 ÷ 15 hours of work = $26.80/hour

Example 4: Raleigh, NC → Charlotte, NC (Round trip, no overnight stay)

  • Drive Time (One Way): 2 hours * $35/hour = $70
  • Installation (Standard SKU - 80 lbs): 2 installs * $75/install = $150
  • Drive Time Between Appointments (1 hour between each install): 1 hour * $35/hour = $35
  • Total Compensation (before gas): $70 (Drive Time) $150 (Installations) $35 (Drive Time Between) = $255
  • Estimated Gas Expense: $30
  • Total After Gas: $225
  • Total Hours of Work: Drive Time (6 hours) Install Time (2 hours) = 8 hours
  • Net Hourly Rate (after gas): $225 ÷ 8 hours of work = $28.18/hour

When you average it all up, our installers can expect to make a living net hourly wage between $28 and $36 an hour for annual compensation of $58,240 - $74,880, based on volume of work, your availability and destinations you travel to! As you progress within the company, you can be promoted to tier II ($40/hourly rate), and a tier I ($45/hourly rate), providing an annual compensation range of $60,000-$79,040 and $66,560-$85,280, respectively.

This is a flexible schedule job. If there is no work on your calendar for the following day, you must update your availability on the company app to ensure the call center does not schedule you.
