What are the responsibilities and job description for the Bartender/Server position at The Ice Cream Bar?
Job Overview
This is a unique opportunity unlike most "restaurant" jobs. We are looking for someone to be the face of a fresh new concept: The Ice Cream Bar! We are a family-friendly restaurant with soft-serve ice cream and beer/wine. We have a play area for kids ages 0-10 so adults can relax and socialize while their kids play. We have 12 taps, a limited wine selection, non-alcoholic beverages, and snack items in addition to four soft-serve flavors and a variety of pre-packaged ice cream options in the freezer. We also offer floats of all kinds using soft-serve. You will be responsible for creating a welcoming atmosphere, working the register, preparing food from our menu (primarily sandwiches), making floats, serving drinks, maintaining ice cream machines at proper levels, and ensuring customer satisfaction in a fast-paced environment. This is a small business - you will be working directly with the two owners and 1 other employee. Many shifts are solo, so being able to work independently is a must.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and serve alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages to customers
- Maintain a clean and organized bar and kitchen area, adhering to food safety and handling standards.
- Engage with patrons to provide excellent customer service, taking orders efficiently and accurately.
- Manage inventory levels, restocking supplies as necessary while minimizing waste.
- Utilize Square POS system for processing orders and payments seamlessly.
- Collaborate with managers/owners regarding inventory and creative ideas for growing the business
- Change kegs when needed (no lifting required)
- Follow all safety protocols to ensure a safe environment for both staff and customers.
- Pre- and post-shift prep and cleanup (approximately 30 minutes each; included in paid hours)
- Must be kid-friendly and able to pass a criminal background check.
Experience
- Previous experience in bartending or related roles within the food industry is preferred.
- Knowledge of food handling practices and food safety regulations is essential.
- Current food handler's permit and Class 12 or Class 13 alcohol server permit
- Familiarity with Square POS system or similar point-of-sale systems is advantageous.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced setting.
- Experience with customer service is a plus.
This is a fun environment in the heart of downtown Everett. The pay is minimum wage plus tips. You will usually be working in teams of two, although independent work is also common. We have two free parking spaces for our employees in the back. The owners (that's us!) are down-to-earth, friendly, and approachable. This is a small family business - joining our team is like joining our family - so a good personality fit is a must. We look forward to meeting you!
