Job Title: Student Advocate - High School
Location: Immokalee, FL
Reports to: Middle School & High School Advocate Supervisor
Employment Status: Exempt/Full-time
Summary
The Student Advocate monitors and addresses the academics, behavior, and overall progress of students for the purpose of post secondary and career readiness through the implementation of various preventative measures and strategic interventions. The student advocate works closely with appropriate staff to ensure the mission of the foundation is intact and all policies and procedures of the foundation are followed. The student advocate is responsible to support
9th to 12th grade students in The Immokalee Foundation.
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED required. Undergraduate degree or equivalent professional experience preferred
- Experience working with adolescents preferred
- Bilingual is preferred, but not required
Responsibilities
- Establish a rapport with all high school students in programs sponsored by The Immokalee Foundation.
- Assist students in identifying their educational, post-secondary and career goals; help them to formulate written plans for future advancement.
- Collaborate on the goals and objectives for The Immokalee Foundation and Take Stock in Children programs.
- Work with program leadership and Program Services Director to maximize school system support.
- Work with program leadership and Program Services Director to identify and establish relationships with affiliated organizations, including Take Stock in Children.
- Assist with data collection: monitor & track student’s grades, behavior, attendance, tests scores, career surveys, aptitude tests, experiences/workshops, to ensure students are meeting benchmarks.
- Identify potential problems and intervene as necessary to ensure student success. This may include, but is not limited to: leveraging the services of affiliated organizations, leveraging school system resources, and direct interaction with students and/or parents.
- Follow pertinent Take Stock in Children and Immokalee Foundation guidelines for student success.
- Assist in the Take Stock in Children and The Immokalee Foundation student selection process, including creating applications, meeting with the committee, inputting scores, etc.
- Provide individual and group advocacy.
- Assist with career interest surveys and career pathway programming to provide students with information on college and career opportunities and choices.
- Assist Take Stock in Children Program Manager with matching students with mentors.
- Maintain effective communication and provide high quality customer service to students, parents, staff, and community members.
- Assist in planning, implementing and chaperoning special trips and events.
- Ensure that proper notification letters are sent to students (when appropriate) for warning, probation, and termination according to the standards set by the program are followed.
- Schedule intervention meetings with students, parents and mentors to create success plans.
- Participate in staff development and in-service training programs.
- Assist other programs as requested or needed.
- Other duties as assigned by Program Services Director and/or President/CEO.

WORKING CONDITIONS
- Working conditions are normal for an office environment.
- Some evenings, weekends, and overnight trips will be required.
- May be required to lift boxes up to 45 lbs.

Pay: $40,000.00 - $43,500.00 per year
