POSITION SUMMARY:
The Senior Accountant, reporting directly to the CFO, is responsible for preparing accurate, timely financial statements, recording balance sheet and income statement activity, and driving innovative accounting practices. This role combines traditional accounting duties with a forward-thinking, tech-savvy approach to streamline processes and embrace automation. Responsibilities include preparing and analyzing budgets and cash flow forecasts, providing insights to guide financial planning. A strong foundation in accounting principles is essential, along with a passion for leveraging data science and technology to improve workflows and enhance reporting accuracy.
CORE RESPONSIBILITIES:
Demonstrates the highest standards of personal and professional integrity and champions continuous innovation, contributing to a culture that embraces technology as a driver for success.
Prepares accurate financial statements and workpapers according to the close schedule, with an emphasis on data-driven insights.
Engages in data analysis and summarizes financial status, uncovering insights that inform decision-making.
Researches and analyzes financial activity and summarizes financial status.
Records acquisition and disbursement activity for new and older assets.
Reviews and understands general ledger activities.
Collaborates with other departments (including AP, Operations, and Asset Management) to resolve discrepancies; proactively recommends and implements modifications to accounting systems and procedures, focusing on automation opportunities.
Participates in and leads special accounting and tech-focused projects aimed at transforming traditional processes and adopting emerging technologies.
Leverages data science methodologies to improve the efficiency of monthly closes and accounting tasks.
Assists auditors with the year-end audit.
Assists and lead special accounting projects.
Other duties as assigned.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY:
This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education:
This position requires a Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) in Accounting from a four-year college or university. A background in data analytics or data science is a plus.
Experience:
This position requires 7-10 years of prior professional accounting experience, ideally in a real estate environment or a tech-forward environment.
Experience with accounting automation or data analysis is highly valued
Certifications/Licenses:
The following certification is preferred for this position: Certified Public Accountant (C.P.A.).
Skills:
Keyboarding skills are required for this position.
Advanced Excel skills and experience with data science tools or programming languages like Python or R is an advantage.
Strong analytical mindset with an eagerness to adopt new technologies, innovate, and bring value to accounting processes.
Intermediate skills in Yardi (or comparable general ledger software program) are required for this position.
Ten Key skills are required for this position.

Salary : $95,000 - $120,000
