SUMMARY
This is an entry level position assisting in daily Front of House operations. Maintain all aspects of the Host Stand. This position seats guests in a rotation of sections for servers. The host will work with the bar to ensure a proper seating in the Living Room and assist with cocktail serving. The host will spearhead communication between departments for in room dining. Once the seating has ended for the evening, the host will assist walking food until the last desserts have left the kitchen.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
1. Demonstrates understanding and implementation of Forbes Standards
2. Will seat guests in the living room/dining room for tea service and dinner service while utilizing the Tock platform.
3. Working with dining room managers to seat guests in proper rotation
4. Demonstrates precise knowledge of table numbers and position numbers
5. Able to clear/set/reset a table for breakfast/tea/dinner
6. Will enter orders on POS for IRD-related tasks
7. Assists with the communication chain on the HotSos platform
8. Demonstrates proper phone etiquette
9. Operating as a cocktail server, running drinks and pouring wine tableside when not designated to the host stand
10. Operating as a Food Walker only once all tables are seated.
11. Receives daily approval of dinner menus and will print them for service.
QUALIFICATIONS
Required
1. Excellent communication skills
2. Must be at least 21 years of age
3. Must be well-groomed and well-presented.
a. Females are required to wear makeup, have her hair tied in a bun and wear uniforms and accessories provided as part of her uniforms.
b. Males: Employees must be clean shaven before arriving at work. Moustaches, beards, and sideburns are not permitted. Hair must be kept clean and combed away from the face. Hair must be trimmed and well maintained, not covering the eyes.

5. Familiarity and proper application of Forbes Standards
Desirable
1. Ability to communicate in a language other than English, preferably Spanish or French
2. Certification in alcohol awareness program
3. Certification in CPR
SKILLS
1. Ability to communicate in English both orally and in writing
2. Strong interpersonal communication skills both verbal and written
3. Must always be organized and maintain cleanliness of workstations
4. Ability to speak clearly and professionally
5. Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment
6. Ability to cross-train across multiple departments and assist when needed
7. Ability to assist guests with questions about the property, its history, and surrounding areas
8. Complete memorization of the signature cocktail list and wine by the glass list.
9. Intermediate knowledge of classic cocktails and wines.
10. Demonstration of advanced knowledge of the IALW property, history, events, and surrounding areas
11. Demonstration of advanced knowledge of the hotel operation, rooms and corresponding room numbers.
12. Recognition of all in-house guests and greeting them appropriately.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
