Grade 12 Salary Range: $23,737.50 - $28,367.50
20 Hours Weekly (Part-Time Position)
The Research Foundation for Mental Hygiene, Inc. is seeking a highly motivated candidate to fill a Research Assistant position in the Molecular Genetics Laboratory to join the Fragile X Premutation and Child Development Study team. The successful candidate will work closely with the Institutional Review Board (IRB) and will be responsible for ensuring compliance with federal regulations, institutional policies, and ethical guidelines related to the protection of human research participants. In addition, the candidate will work on other project-related tasks as needed. This role requires a strong understanding of IRB processes, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work independently and collaboratively with the research team. To be successful in this role the candidate should be highly skilled in computer software applications, including:MS Office, Excel, Word, and Access. This is a grant-based part-time position for 20 hours per week.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Serve as the primary point of contact for all IRB-related matters for the NIH-funded grant project.
- Develop, prepare, and submit new IRB applications, amendments, continuing reviews, and adverse event reports in accordance with institutional and federal guidelines.
- Maintain a thorough understanding of the research protocol and all related study documents.
- Ensure all research personnel involved in the project have completed required human subjects protection training.
- Track the status of IRB submissions and approvals and proactively address any queries or requests from the IRB.
- Maintain organized and accurate IRB regulatory files, including protocols, consent forms, approval letters, amendments, and other relevant documentation.
- Assist with the preparation for and response to any internal or external audits related to IRB compliance.
- Collaborate with the research team to ensure adherence to the approved IRB protocol and all relevant regulations.
- Perform other tasks related to the research project.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Completion of 60 College credits pursuing a degree in Biostatistics, Biology, Psychology, or a related field.
- 1 year of experience in research, with a strong understanding of ethical principles related to human subject's research.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Biostatistics, Biology, Psychology, or in a related field.
- Strong organizational and problem-solving skills
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- 6 months of xperience preparing and submitting IRB applications, amendments, and continuing reviews through an electronic IRB system.
