SUMMARY

The Diabetes Eye Care Tech Upstate at THE INSTITUTE FOR FAMILY HEALTH is responsible for providing specialized eye care services to patients with diabetes. This role is crucial in detecting and managing diabetic eye diseases, ensuring patients receive comprehensive care to prevent vision loss and maintain optimal eye health.

KEY RESPOSNSIBLIES

  • Conduct comprehensive eye examinations for diabetic patients, including visual acuity tests, retinal imaging, and other diagnostic procedures.
  • Collaborate with ophthalmologists and other healthcare professionals to develop and implement personalized care plans for patients with diabetic eye conditions.
  • Educate patients on the importance of regular eye check-ups and provide guidance on managing diabetes to prevent eye complications.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed patient records, ensuring all tests and treatments are documented in compliance with healthcare regulations.
  • Operate and maintain specialized ophthalmic equipment, ensuring it is calibrated and functioning correctly.
  • Stay updated with the latest advancements in diabetic eye care and incorporate new techniques and technologies into practice.
  • Provide compassionate and empathetic care to patients, addressing their concerns and ensuring a positive experience during their visits.
  • Participate in community outreach programs to raise awareness about diabetic eye health and the services offered by THE INSTITUTE FOR FAMILY HEALTH.

Qualifications

REQUIRED EDUCATION

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Certification in ophthalmic technology or related field preferred.

Required Experences

  • Minimum of 1-2 years of experience working in a healthcare setting, preferably in ophthalmology or optometry.
  • Experience in conducting eye examinations and using diagnostic equipment is highly desirable.
  • Familiarity with diabetes-related eye conditions and treatments is advantageous.

Required Skills And Abilities

  • Excellent communication skills to effectively interact with patients and healthcare professionals.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced clinical environment.
  • Proficient in using electronic health records (EHR) systems for documentation and patient management.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills to ensure accurate data collection and reporting.
  • Compassionate and patient-centered approach to care, with a commitment to delivering high-quality service.
  • Strong knowledge of eye care procedures and diagnostic equipment, including retinal cameras and visual field analyzers. (preferred)
  • This position requires travel throughout the Mid-Hudson region. ***
