Supervisor Family Support

Position Summary

The FSS Supervisor coordinates and supports the clinical work of the FSSs for the Healthy Families program and provides supervision to the Family Support Specialists and other staff as needed. The FSS Supervisor participates in quality assurance activities and coordinates services for participants and oversees day-to-day management and functioning of the sites and programs. The FSS Supervisor may carry a small caseload of families as needed. The FSS Supervisor may conduct Assessments as needed.

Essential Job Duties

  • Job Tasks

Provides transportation to and from visits and trainings with mileage reimbursement as per staff automobile policy; Must have full access to vehicle during work hours.

Provides orientation, training, supervision and support to assigned Support Specialists.

Identifies training and professional development needs within the program, particularly for the enhancement of clinical and assessment techniques for ongoing work with families.

Assists with supervision of interns or volunteers.

Provides a minimum of 1.5 hours of protected individual supervision per week to assigned FSSs and FRSs.

Completes annual performance evaluations on all assigned personnel.

Coordinates the program’s quality assurance activities according to the Quality Assurance Plan.

Implements all required supervisor and FSS quality assurance activities for submission to the Program Director.

Ensures participant families receive home visiting services during staff absences or vacancies.

Demonstrates clinical competency and knowledge of intervention in areas such as but not limited to domestic violence; substance abuse; mental health; family systems; and child abuse and neglect reporting laws and appropriate follow-up.

Acts as a liaison between the program and other community agencies including developing relationships and acquiring Memoranda of Understanding.

Assures that referrals are completed and collaborates internally and externally to ensure effective outreach strategies are implemented and participants are receiving appropriate services.

Attends regional and statewide Program Managers meetings and other relevant meetings as requested.

Initiates consistent supportive dialogue with professional counterparts at other regional sites.

Helps facilitate weekly team meetings and huddles; participates in in-house and external committees as requested.

Assists with daily oversight of staff assignments and tasks to assure office and program functioning.

Works to assure ongoing referrals between the Healthy Families division and other community and health services.

Works with Support Specialists and Resource Specialist Team to assure optimal achievement of program objectives, utilizing the program’s data system.

Assists Directors with program reports, particularly as related to achievement of program performance targets and goals.

Meets regulatory, licensure (if applicable), and other health assessment requirements.

Ability to design and implement in-services as well as make presentation for the purpose of program outreach.

Ability to generate, interpret, and analyze data from multiple sources.

A solid understanding of or experience in supervising diverse staff with humility as well as providing support to staff in stressful work environment.

Knowledge of infant and child development and parent child attachment.

Experience in family services which embrace the concept of family centered and strength-based service provision.

Knowledge of parent infant health and dynamics of child abuse and neglect.

Experience in supporting culturally diverse communities/families.

Experience in home visiting with a strong background in early childhood prevention services.

EDUCATION

Master’s degree in human services or fields related to working with children and families. - Required

OR

Bachelor’s degree in human services or fields related to working with children and families with 3 years of relevant experience. - Required

OR

Less than a bachelor’s degree but with commensurate HFA experience.

  • There may be circumstances when the most appropriate and best suited candidate for a supervisor role does not possess the required educational background identified in the HFA standard. HFA encourages hiring the individual who is the best fit for the role. -Required

Work Experience

3 years of relevant experience - Required

LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION

Valid Driver’s License and access to a vehicle - Required

Infant Mental Health Endorsement - Preferred

Basic computer and internet navigational skills - Required

Computer literacy with Windows-based operating systems and MS Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint) - Required

Bi-lingual (Spanish/English) - Preferred

Familiarity with electronic health records (EHR) technology - Preferred
