POSITION SUMMARY:
The Manager – Research & Insights works collaboratively to execute research initiatives across the organization and within the global IIA institute network. Daily activities include designing research projects, working with external collaborators, collecting and analyzing both quantitative and qualitative data, visualizing results, and writing research reports and key takeaways. The individual must possess strong communication, stakeholder management, and analytical skills to deliver actionable insights and recommendations. The ability to collaborate with and influence associates across the organization is essential. Experience with cross-border communication is preferred.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assists with the execution of research related to the internal audit profession, The Institute of Internal Auditors, and the Internal Audit Foundation
- Develops and implements data collection methods, including surveys and various other techniques
- Works collaboratively with both internal and external research partners
- Performs data cleaning and validation to ensure accuracy, consistency, and completeness of datasets before analysis
- Conducts in-depth analysis of data to identify key insights and trends
- Develops clear and effective visual representations of data, such as charts and graphs
- Codes data from qualitative research initiatives and synthesizes findings
- Writes detailed and comprehensive reports on research findings
- Prepares and delivers PowerPoint presentations
- Manages the programming of surveys and maintenance of survey tools and processes
- Develops and maintains a core library of demographic and professional insight questions to support longitudinal trending
- Identifies and manages internal and/or external research resources
- Manages external requests for data access
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree with 3 years of experience in human-subject research or similar field
- At least 3 years of data analytics experience
- Experience working with an association or other member-based organization preferred
Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities
- Working knowledge and understanding of data analysis and statistical analysis tools such as SPSS, SAS, Q
- Tableau or Power BI experience is a plus
- Experience using survey software systems such as Verint, Qualtrics, or others
- Excellent analytical skills with demonstrated success at using creative competencies to solve problems
- Strong interpersonal and anticipatory skills with a collaborative and team-player mindset
- Exceptional verbal communication, professional writing, and presentation skills
- Continual learner well versed in data analysis trends
- Ability to gather large amounts of data and convert it into meaningful, succinct insights for senior and executive-level leaders
- Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills
- Energetic self-starter who can quickly adapt and thrive in a multitasking environment and meet strict deadlines
- Expert Microsoft Office skills (Word, Power Point, Excel)
Language Skills
Effective written, verbal, presentation development, and interpersonal communications skills as well as strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret data and insights that will be incorporated into data-led initiatives. A complete command of the English language, including grammar skills. Multiple language ability is an asset in any role at The IIA.
Reasoning Ability
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, draw valid conclusions, and effectively propose and execute solutions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety unstructured data to distill into keen insights for a variety of business functions with varying market needs (learning, membership, etc.).
Computer Skills
Expert ability to work in a computerized environment with a strong knowledge of most Microsoft Office products and survey software systems. Must have an aptitude to learn and implement new software tools relating to data analysis.
