Job Title:
Lower School Arts Teacher- Full Time
Overview and Purpose:
Lower School staff at The International School of Indiana work in a multicultural environment with families, teachers and staff from around the world. The Lower School Counselor reports to the Lower School Principal and supports the school’s mission by working collaboratively with all faculty and staff to help students develop their personal and academic skills while providing advice and guidance.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Developing engaging Art lessons for students in Early Years through Grade 5.
- Collaborating with grade level teachers to ensure transdisciplinary learning is taking place on units of inquiry.
- Displaying, sharing and celebrating student success in the arts.
- Deliver lessons that are developmentally appropriate and differentiated when needed.
- Willing to work with a team and take lead roles in assemblies and end of unit celebrations.
- Assessing and giving feedback on student growth and development including semesterly report writing.
- Keeping the work space organized, safe and accessible for all students.
- Preparing and submitting material orders in a timely manner
- Connect with community members / organize field trips to further enhance student learning in the arts
- Take part in training to meet program requirements and develop skills
- Establish and communicate clear objectives for all learning activities
- Communicate with parents in a positive and timely manner
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in a related field
- Minimum of 2 Years of professional experience
- Excellent organizational, problem solving, and time management skills
- Strong written and oral communication skills
Desirable Qualifications:
- STEM/STEAM experience in planning and delivering lessons to students.
- Experience in diverse multilingual environments
- Experience or knowledge of the IB Primary Years Programme
