What are the responsibilities and job description for the Database Architect position at The Intersect Group?
The Intersect Group is seeking a Database Architect for our direct healthcare client, where you will join an existing team of Developers and Analyst to ensure data assets are of proper quality and highly available to their business decision process. This role shall build and architect MS SQL database systems / servers, while collaborating closing with integration and reporting teams to deliver best possible solutions. This is a hands-on role that will also optimize databases for scalability and performance, lead projects and provide technical guidance to other developers, both onshore and offshore.
Needed :
10 years of experience in Data Architecture, database development, integration, and related areas
5 years of hands-on experience optimizing SQL Server databases for scalability and performance
3 years working with SQL Server in Azure – either on VM or Managed Instance
3 years working with offshore team
Exceptional knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server internals and optimization on a VM / Azure
Ability to quickly grasp and articulate dependencies between processes and data
Strong ability to analyze systems and data and pay attention to detail
Excellent communication, organizational and time management skills
Takes initiative and can manage and complete multiple concurrent projects in a timely manner
Preferred :
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combinations of education and experience
Experience leading projects
Experience working with Snowflake, Databricks, Azure Data Factory, Power BI
Duties :
Build and oversee the data architecture design, and manage database systems
Create databases and provide access to users while meeting security requirements
Ensure optimal performance and scalability for SQL Servers in Azure – either on VM, Managed Instances, or SQL DBs
Identify system bottlenecks, and optimize performance to ensure timely deliverables
Work with developers on indexing and query-tuning, and provide guidance in building optimal code
Work with IT team to review and refine procedures for disaster recovery and high availability
Monitor SQL Servers, disk space, resource utilization and ensure capacity needs are met
Leverage SQL and Azure tools to monitor jobs, optimize processes and build better solutions
Work closely with offshore / onshore developers and users and coordinate on deliverables
Take ownership to maintain a high level of uptime and performance for all databases and services
Assist with managing source code and deployments, and implement best-practices
Develop and implement database / reporting policies and procedures, including those for architecture, security, disaster recovery, performance, and service provision
Assist with streamlining data integration processes, improving efficiencies, reducing effort related to development and support, while providing security, flexibility and scalability
Build and maintain strong relationship between different business units and onshore / offshore teams
Research and evaluate new tools / features Azure (Data Lake, Databricks, Purview, Fabric, etc.) and assist in building Proof-of-Concept.
