Payroll Tax Specialist
We are partnering with a leading organization to find their next Payroll Tax Specialist . The Payroll Tax Specialist will play a pivotal role in overseeing the payroll tax function, ensuring compliance with federal and state regulations. You will be responsible for reconciling payroll taxes, working closely with a third-party payroll provider, and managing the timely filing and payment of taxes. This position requires a hands-on approach to tracking and documenting payments, as well as addressing any overdue filings or revisions that may be necessary. Your ability to communicate effectively and take ownership of the entire payroll tax process will directly contribute to the organization's efficiency and compliance.
Key Responsibilities
Reconcile payroll tax records and ensure accuracy in tax filings.
Manage and own the end-to-end payroll tax process, working with the third-party payroll partner
File all payroll tax returns accurately and within the designated deadlines.
Track, document, and verify all tax payments, ensuring proper remittance.
Resolve overdue filings, missed returns, and necessary revisions to ensure full compliance.
Demonstrate a proactive approach by understanding the context of tax work and improving overall processes.
Position Requirements
Minimum of 2 years of hands-on experience with payroll tax, with a strong understanding of both federal and state tax regulations.
Experience with large ERP systems, particularly UKG, SAP S4 Hana, or similar platforms.
Expertise in sales and income tax with a focus on payroll-related issues.
Ability to work independently and take ownership of payroll tax functions, from reconciliation to filing.
Strong attention to detail with excellent organizational and tracking skills.
Clear communication skills to liaise with internal teams and external partners.
Ability to navigate and resolve complex payroll tax issues efficiently and accurately.
Preferred Skills
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related field.
Exposure to General Ledger (GL) Accounting functions.
