What are the responsibilities and job description for the Senior Cost Accountant position at The Intersect Group?
We are seeking a Senior Cost Accountant with a strong accounting background and experience with manufacturing and inventory. This role is critical in ensuring accurate inventory records, financial reporting, and compliance with internal controls. The ideal candidate will collaborate closely with operations, sales, and procurement teams to provide financial support and insights.
Key Responsibilities:
- Monitor inventory purchases and support the production team with financial analysis.
- Participate in monthly, quarterly, and annual financial closings for high-value, customized goods.
- Prepare journal entries and conduct balance sheet reconciliations to ensure financial accuracy.
- Perform variance analysis with a focus on inventory, cost accounting, gross margin, and cost of goods sold.
- Assist with SOX compliance and support internal and external audit preparations.
- Develop annual budgets, including labor and overhead rates for the Workshop.
- Conduct ad hoc accounting and financial analysis projects as needed.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance (CPA preferred).
- 5 years of experience in accounting, preferably in a senior role.
- Expertise in U.S. GAAP and cost accounting principles.
- Advanced Excel skills (ability to analyze large datasets and perform complex calculations).
- ERP experience (NetSuite preferred).
- Strong understanding of manufacturing operations, inventory, and cost accounting (luxury retail experience is a plus).
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
