The Intersect Group is seeking a Lead Server Engineer III where you will serve as a critical member of the our direct client’s IT Infrastructure team, responsible for maintaining the stability, integrity, availability, and performance of Windows Server, VMWare, and other infrastructure technologies within a banking environment. As a senior professional, the Server Engineer focuses on ensuring the smooth operation, maintenance, upgrades, and patching of server environments and associated systems. This role also involves supporting junior engineers, aiding in application deployment and delivery, and implementing server hardware and operating systems to optimize application performance and availability. Key responsibilities include the installation, configuration, and maintenance of servers across diverse environments and platforms, analyzing server performance, and maintaining existing disaster recovery plans.
Location: Dallas (75251) near Central Expressway
Schedule: Onsite Monday through Thursday, remote on Friday
Interview Process: 1-2 virtual rounds and then final interview is onsite
Qualifications:
- Associates Degree in Computer Science or related field
- 8 years’ Server Engineering experience in lieu of Degree acceptable
- Expertise in configuration, deployment and administration of Microsoft 365, Windows Server (2019-2022), Active Directory, Exchange and SQL Server.
- Experience in troubleshooting and resolving complex problems.
- Experience in Performance Tuning and Optimization (PTO), using native monitoring and troubleshooting tools.
- Experience with backups, restores and recovery models.
- Knowledge of High Availability (HA) and Disaster Recovery (DR) options for Windows Server.
- Experience in implementing operational automation using PowerShell scripts.
- Knowledge of WhatsUpGold, BackupExec, LanGuard and Symantec products.
- Experience working with Windows Server Group Policy.
- Documentation skills for processes and procedures.
- Must have good communication skills (both written and verbal)
- Must be willing to work after-hours occasionally
- Must have good problem analysis and resolution skills
- Must have strong organization and prioritization skills
- Must be able to interface with users/customers
- Must be able to lift and move equipment as necessary.
Other needs:
- The ideal Server Engineer III candidate will have five plus years of experience designing, building, configuring, and supporting medium size infrastructure environments to include networking protocols, clustering, replication, encryption, tape/disk drives, and backup and restore technologies with the ability to architect complex enterprise solutions with special consideration given to application performance and resiliency, configuration, optimization, and troubleshooting.
- The ideal Server Engineer III will also have the following skills and experience:
- Extensive knowledge of several or all of the following: Server systems, storage arrays, fabric configurations, SAN, NAS, Fiber Channel, Microsoft Active Directory and Windows infrastructure services such as AD, GPO, DFS, File/Print, DNS, WINS, replication, certificate services, ADFS, Virtualization of network, SAN, and Server technologies, VMWare technologies
- Experience architecting enterprise solutions for application performance and resiliency
- Experience configuring, optimizing, troubleshooting, and managing: AD/Dir services, attributes, object, object classes; VMWare ESX Enterprise; vSphere, vCenter, etc.
- Experience automating build and configuration of infrastructure resources using Terraform
- Proficiency in automation scripting languages such as PowerShell and Python
Preferred:
- Certification is a plus; MCSE, MCITP, MCSA.
Duties:
- Serve as Subject Matter Expert (SME) for other Server Engineers by providing consultation, mentoring, performance feedback, and support
- Work with the CIO to define strategic direction
- Design, architect, install, and document Branch wide information systems, servers, and services in support of core businesses
- Designs, and develops effective solutions, specifications and quotes, based upon customer needs, systems, and standards.
- Build and configure Branch server hardware, operating system and application software following approved procedures and standards established for the IT Data Center.
- Integrate systems within the enterprise directories according to established policies and procedures to ensure customer access requirements
- Maintain, administer, support and troubleshoot the appropriate services using approved enterprise tools and methods to ensure availability and performance
- Provide quality and timely technical support and assistance to customers, vendors and other IS personnel to resolve problems and issues in a clear and concise manner
- Evaluate system performance by running tests using appropriate methodologies and tools. Perform periodic maintenance to restore, maintain and improve the performance of all information systems
- Manage projects to ensure the quality and timely implementation of data center systems using established tools and procedures while monitoring project status and resolving issues in a timely manner with our Managed Data Center/Security provider.

Salary : $140,000 - $160,000
