Overview: The Vision Services Assistant (VSA) is a part-time position to assist Vision Services Department in completing database entries, administrative tasks and research and/or delivery of devices as assigned.
To be successful in this positionthe ideal candidate will demonstrate the ability to relate with people on an individual and group basis; have a basic understanding and knowledge of disabilities and willingness to learn about vision impairments; have efficient typing/database entry skills, professional level of written/verbal communication skills, be organized and manage time effectively; be self-motivated.
Job Duties:
- Work under the supervision of a CVRT or COMS
- Enter and update new referrals in database.
- Complete aides/appliance research and requests
- Complete and submit Talking Books Applications to MSL
- Complete applications for various vision related client service programs
- Utilize the Agency’s database to prepare and maintain client case record reports
- Work within the requirements of contract and grant funding sources;
- Serve as an ambassador for the agency and its mission.
- Provide and maintain open lines of communication with assigned CVRT/COMS related to client documentation and updates
- Schedule and confirm client visits, create travel itineraries, deliver devices at the discretion of CVRT/COMS
- Assist in planning of group lessons and locations as directed.
- Attend agency staff meetings and assist staff in the facilitation of community education/in –services as needed.
- Develop and maintain a strong and positive collaborative working relationship with other staff, inter-departmentally and intra-departmentally, across the agency to provide seamless and comprehensive services to clients.
- Adhere to The Iris Network’s safety policies and procedures.
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
- High School Diploma or Associates degree; Bachelor’s preferred.
- Up to 25% travel.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to track and maintain multiple tasks/spreadsheet management
- High level of technology skills and familiarity with database management
- Access to reliable transportation.
