The Role
The Occupational Therapist (OT) Consultant will work with our ABA Clinical Team to deliver occupational therapy consultation to our clients. This role requires a deep understanding of occupational therapy principles and a collaborative approach to working with clients and their families. The consultant will assess clients, develop tailored therapy plans, and collaborate with the ABA Clinical Team in integrating OT strategies into their treatment sessions.
Essential Work Duties and Responsibilities
Education, Experience, and Skills
Internal / External Relationships
Internal : Function as a member of a transdisciplinary team serving infants and toddlers with special needs, and their families. Provide formal teaching to parents and other team members in their own area of expertise. Provide supervision, consultation, or orientation to other therapists on the team, as directed.
External : Consult with other members of the team in areas of own expertise, including promotion of overall communication development, adjustment of the home environment to promote functional skills, assistive technology needs, and achievement of occupational therapy goals within the natural setting.
Working Conditions
Natural settings, Center, and home-based interventions shall require local travel. The work environment is in a program location, requiring frequent child and family contact. It is in general business office conditions, working with a computer, telephone, photocopy equipment, and fax machines.
Physical and Mental Requirements
Ability to successfully perform the essential function of this job with reasonable accommodations considered. Ability to deal with a wide range of individual and programmatic issues. Frequent sitting, standing, and walking. Must be able to lift 30 pounds. Must have valid driver's license, safe driving record, automobile insurance, and own vehicle to be used as directed and when needed for transport. Must have and maintain pediatric CPR certification.
