Description
Under the direction of the Director, Information Technology, the Systems Administrator leads and executes the Help Desk function for The J. The Systems Administrator assists the Director with tasks related to infrastructure, Campus A/V, project management and inventory. The Systems Administrator’s focus is on serving and supporting the needs of colleagues who need assistance with IT hardware and software. The Systems Administrator demonstrates both technical expertise and a patient, helpful demeanor and communication style.
Schedule
This position primarily works Monday-Friday from 8am to 5pm, but some flexibility to work occasional evenings and weekends is required.
Essential Functions
- Lead, oversee and execute the help desk functions for all J employees
- Offer technical support to staff and troubleshoot computer problems with systems, printers, software and hardware, documenting work performed
- Install, configure and repair computer software and hardware
- Train users on basic computer skills and basic computer-related problem-solving
- Monitor daily backups, network troubleshooting and scripting/automation
- Set-up, operate and train others on all A/V equipment across Campus including monitors, projectors and sound systems used for in-person and hybrid meetings and events
- provide technology-related expertise to assist with reviewing and implementing new or upgraded systems and solutions
- Maintain inventory of equipment (hardware and software)
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, related field or equivalent certificates
- Three or more years of IT experience
- Good communication skills, including writing, speaking and active listening
- Strong problem-solving, critical thinking and decision-making skills
- Customer service and interpersonal skills
- Excellent attention to detail
- Project management skills, including organization, planning, time management and prioritization
- Expert knowledge of IT best practices, policies and regulations
Physical Requirements
- Lift up to 50 pounds, including moving furniture
- Sit and stand for long periods of time
- Move freely throughout the entire facility, multiple levels and includes indoor and outdoor spaces and areas without climate control
- Able to squat, crouch, bend and crawl under desks or other spaces as well as climb ladders
- See and read fine details, small print and discern color accurately
