We are assisting our client, a leading insurance company, in their search for a skilled and detail-oriented Tax Accountant for a 12-month contract position. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in accounting with expertise in tax compliance, including federal and unemployment tax matters, and the ability to manage journal entries, reconciliations, and tax filings. This role requires advanced proficiency in Excel, with a focus on pivot tables and VLOOKUP, and a commitment to supporting the states during their tax filing processes. Candidates must be available for shifts starting at 6 : 00 a.m., 6 : 30 a.m. or 7 : 00 a.m. Eastern. This is a 12-month contract position with the potential for future opportunities.
Responsibilities :
- Prepare and record journal entries in compliance with accounting standards.
- Perform reconciliations and ensure accuracy in financial reporting.
- Ensure tax compliance by filing federal, state and unemployment tax returns.
- Provide support to states during their tax filing processes.
- Review and process lock-in letters.
- Assist with state withholding and related tax filings.
- Conduct audits and complete required tasks on a weekly, monthly and quarterly basis.
- Review all incoming communication, including mail and emails, to ensure timely processing.
- Prepare and generate detailed tax reports using advanced Excel functions such as pivot tables and VLOOKUP.
- Collaborate with other team members to ensure the accuracy and timeliness of tax filings and accounting tasks.

Pay Range :
The anticipated pay rate for this position is between $32-$35 per hour.
