Job Summary: Supports the design and coordination of HVAC control systems and Building Automation projects under the guidance of senior team members. Assists with preparing drawings, schedules, and material lists while providing on-site support for installations, commissioning, and troubleshooting. Plays a key role in coordinating with subcontractors and field teams to ensure smooth project execution. Handles material verification, cost estimating, and technical documentation. Requires strong communication skills, attention to detail, and some regional travel based on project needs.
As a Field Engineer you will:
- Work closely with subcontractors, technicians, and mechanics to understand and coordinate agreements and work scope.
- Safely manage operations in accordance with company policy and procedures; aggressively work to minimize hazards and to avoid/manage claims.
- Develop HVAC control drawings, schedules, submittals, sequences of operations, material lists, network layouts, electrical schematics and as built drawings; select hardware designs from several different control vendors.
- Design HVAC control programs and HVAC Building Automation Systems.
- Assist in compiling cost estimates and preparing proposals; provide technical recommendations on projects.
- Aggressively perform continuous self-study, to maintain a competitive edge in the industry and company's standards, practices and product lines; complete certifications as required.
- Perform material ordering and verification.
- Assist in providing direction and support to field teams in the installation and execution of contracts.
- Perform and assist in the commissioning of the controls and associated equipment.
- Provide assistance to design engineers and project managers during all project phases.
- Local and regional travel; variable based on project assignment.
- Actively participate in programs, policies and initiatives designed to enhance the overall good of the company and corporation.
Experience/Education Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering or a related field of study, OR 2-year associate degree (HVAC, mechanical or electrical) OR three years of construction related experience.
- Knowledge of blueprint reading and the integration of multiple buildings systems.
- Three to Five years' experience with HVAC Temperature Controls Service and Installation, preferred.
- Knowledge of commercial construction, mechanical HVAC, plumbing systems and estimating experience preferred.
- Exhibit technical aptitude and computer skills including MS Office (excel, word, power point). Familiarity with/ability to learn AutoCAD, BIM design, Revit, PlanGrid, Bluebeam/Adobe Pro, estimating software, Procore/ Primavera or other software, file sharing systems.
- Well-developed organizational and time management skills; ability to schedule/coordinate projects to meet expressed deadlines.
- Desire to master construction concepts, bring every project to a successful conclusion.
- iPhone and iPad experience helpful
- Excellent verbal and written communication and customer service skills.
- Valid State Driver's license, and able to travel to or work from project sites.
