Role Overview
The Director of Finance and Operations plays a pivotal role at The Janus School, overseeing all financial aspects of the institution while managing human resources and facilities. This strategic leader is responsible for leading the Health, Safety and Security functions, as well as supervising key staff members.
As a member of the Administrative Team, this individual will take an active role in planning and managing the school's operations. Key responsibilities include:
- Financial Management: Supervise general accounting, prepare monthly financial statements, oversee accounts receivable/payable, and ensure internal controls are in place.
- School Budget: Develop and monitor operating expense budgets, prepare annual operating and salary budgets, reconcile budget vs. actual reports, analyze market data, and make recommendations for expense/budget changes.
- Investment Management: Collaborate with the Finance Committee and Board of Trustees to manage investments and maintain a 5-year financial plan.
- Human Resources: Oversee staffing needs, participate in recruitment processes, maintain employment contracts, recommend salary ranges, and ensure accurate payroll completion.
- Operations Management: Supervise custodial services, general maintenance, grounds maintenance, supply procurement, vendor liaison, and management of new construction or renovation projects.
