JOB DESCRIPTION

 

Summary/Objective

We are looking for a dedicated, results-driven team player with a very fine eye for detail to bring their technical expertise to Jaynes, ensuring the quality and accuracy of our data and delivering insight into business decisions.

 

Essential Functions

  • Manage master data, including creation, updates, and deletion
  • Manage users and user roles
  • Work with management to prioritize business and information needs
  • Pull data from multiple databases into one centralized dashboard to be used by upper management and executives
  • Maintain current and accurate knowledge of data storage and management best practices
  • Ensure that database projects are completed on time and within estimated costs
  • Develop and maintain documentation and standards
  • Analyze data and reports to provide decision-makers with discoveries and suggestions
  • Manage and design the reporting environment, including data sources, security, and metadata
  • Generate reports from single or multiple systems
  • Troubleshoot the reporting database environment and reports
  • Support project teams and upper management in identifying and revising reporting requirements
  • Support initiatives for data integrity and normalization
  • Develop and distribute reports to executives, VPs, directors, and department leaders from various departments
  • Assess tests and implement new or upgraded software and assist with strategic decisions on new systems
  • Train end-users on new reports and dashboards
  • Provide technical expertise in data storage structures, data mining, and data cleansing
  • Locate and define new process improvement opportunities
  • Develop and manage information to support corporate decision making
  • Manage and improve existing reporting systems
  • Develop methodology and process for prioritization and scheduling of projects
  • Analyze problems and determines root causes
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date data in the current business intelligence reports
  • Respond to additional needs/requests
  • Monitor compliance to standards and processes
  • Develop and deliver user training and provide support to facilitate appropriate usage of data
  • Create and maintain existing Data Flow Diagrams
  • Support Operations Support Director in more complex tasks and initiatives
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned

 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Statistics, Mathematics, Accounting, Computer Engineering or Computer Science, or related field or equivalent related work experience
  • One year work experience as a data analyst or in a related business intelligence field
  • Demonstrated experience in handling large data sets and relational databases
  • Excellent computer skills, including experience with various software, graphic design, layout, composition, and desktop publishing
  • Excellent knowledge and understanding of information analysis and various computer hardware/software systems, including Microsoft Office Suite (i.e., Excel, Power BI, Outlook, Power Point, etc.)
  • Technical expertise regarding data models, database design development, data mining and segmentation techniques
  • Strong knowledge of and experience with reporting packages (Business Objects etc.), databases (SQL etc), programming (XML, Javascript, or ETL frameworks)
  • Knowledge of statistics and experience using statistical packages for analyzing datasets (Excel, SPSS, SAS etc)
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to collect, organize, analyze, and disseminate significant amounts of information with attention to detail and accuracy
  • Understanding of computer languages used within database and understanding of database design and construction
  • The ability to pay attention to detail when working with data in order to make accurate conclusions and predictions
  • High-level written and verbal communication skills to effectively share findings with shareholders
  • Strong IT and mathematical skills
  • Ability to translate business requirements into non-technical, lay terms
  • Basic principles and practices of end-user software troubleshooting
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work

Supervisory Responsibility

This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

 

Work Environment

This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.

 

Physical Demands

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

 

This is largely a sedentary role with prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer; however, some filing is required. This would require the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets and bending or standing on a stool as necessary.

 

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time non-union position. The scheduled hours are 40 to 50 hours per week Monday through Friday but may be extended as required to execute the tasks assigned.

 

Travel

This position may require infrequent travel.

 

Required Education and Experience

Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Statistics, Mathematics, Accounting, Computer Engineering or Computer Science, or related field or equivalent related work experience; and at least one year work experience as a data analyst or in a related field.

 

Additional Eligibility Qualifications

  1. Must pass a pre-employment screen, including but not limited to a drug and alcohol screen, background check, motor vehicle records check, reference check and physical (if applicable).
  2. Current and valid driver’s license in the state of permanent residence (must be insurable by Jaynes automobile insurance carrier in order to drive a Jaynes vehicle).
  3. Must be eligible per Fleet Safety Management policy to operate a company vehicle or a personal vehicle for company purposes.
