Our residents have experienced significant trauma, resulting in behavioral and emotional issues. The AOBH offers a small home like setting, physical and emotional support, family connections and visitation, educational, social and clinical support and opportunities, age appropriate recreational activities, and aftercare planning for youth and young adults.   POSITION OVERVIEW:   Responsible for the day to day coordination of client medical care, oversees all administrative functions in the program medical department. Supervises all RN in the department.    KEY ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Oversee all aspects of the medical/nursing department(s) in the program. Implement and integrate medical protocols into the management of client medical diagnoses. Directly supervise nurses assigned to this supervisor. Will meet weekly with each of these nurses and document each meeting. Complete weekly Dayforce for this staff, and annual evaluation. Administer medication to clients within scope of practice. Provide support to staff who oversee client’s medication administration procedures. Venipuncture for lab draws. Medical representative at interdisciplinary team meetings. Oversight and supervision of nursing staff. Coordination of AMAP training with the director of medical quality. Assist in addressing the medical component of audits conducted by regulatory bodies and COA as well as internal audits. May coordinate, prepare and distribute all routine administrative medical reports, as required by any licensing and / or regulatory bodies. Participate in client education programs on relevant health related issues.   Provide staff ongoing education and tools in order to ensure appropriate responses to medical concerns at all times. Assist in pharmacy reviews and medication security procedures. Collaborate with community hospital leadership and staff to promote collaboration and continuity of care across settings for clients during all phases of hospitalization. Work closely as a liaison with program psychiatric and primary care prescribers. Coordinate with school nurses to facilitate nursing care and medical requirements for all residential clients who attend outside educational facilities. Participate in ongoing agency medical leadership meetings. Perform ongoing Electronic Health Record reviews to ensure both regulatory compliance as well as opportunities for Quality Improvement. Assure that any medical problems / issues are communicated to the Primary Care Practitioner and Administrator(s) as necessary, including a follow-up. Upon successful completion of CPR and/or any other train the trainer programs as directed by leadership the RN will perform certifications for staff as needed. Able to respond to after-hours medical crisis calls to provide telephone guidance to Program Staff and follow up appropriately.  Other tasks as indicated by leadership.         Team Process Participates in intakes, assessments, and discharge with medical follow-up. Participates in regular staff meetings and trainings.  May be asked to travel to offsite meetings and trainings.          Documentation Follow up on incident reports as appropriate. Perform ongoing Electronic Health Record reviews to ensure both regulatory compliance as well as opportunities for Quality Improvement.   Completes regular and timely documentation of all resident interactions, including progress and informational notes.   CORE COMPETENCIES for the position include: Excellent leadership skills. Excellent resident engagement skills Strong verbal and written communication skills Attention to detail Ability to work independently as well as with a team Valid driver’s license   EDUCATIONAL/TRAINING REQUIRED: Minimum education level of a BSN or RN. Position may require specialized expertise in the area of mental health, developmental disorders, crisis intervention, AIDS or infectious disease or other areas as deemed appropriate for the program’s needs. Should be familiar with standard reporting requirements as dictated by those bodies to whom the division is accountable.     EXPERIENCE REQUIRED/LANGUAGE PREFERENCE: Willingness to work with a children/adolescents/ young adults living with the impact of trauma and experience mental health challenges Compassion and respect for vulnerable individuals. Patience and understanding for the sometimes slow process of stabilization and recovery.   COMPUTER SKILLS REQUIRED: Ability to use Microsoft Office including Outlook, Word Ability and willingness to learn new systems and application software   VISUAL AND MANUAL DEXTERITY: The candidate should be able to read documents for analytical purposes such as health charts, spreadsheets, etc. Possess the manual dexterity necessary for handling medical equipment, administering medications, and performing clinical procedures.   WORK ENVIRONMENT/PHYSICAL EFFORT Travel in the community with residents Travel between programs Ability to walk, sit, stand, and bend as necessary to assess and provide care to clients effectively in various settings. Must be capable of responding swiftly to emergencies, which may involve moving quickly to the scene, performing CPR, and utilizing appropriate emergency protocols. Proficient in lifting, transferring, and repositioning clients safely when needed, ensuring the comfort and safety of both clients and staff. Maintain the physical stamina to perform nursing duties throughout the shift, including prolonged periods of standing and walking, while remaining attentive to patient needs.
