MAJOR GIFTS OFFICER

POSITION SUMMARY: The Major Gifts Officer will secure philanthropic resources for the Jewish Federation in partnership with the highest-level donors and potential donors to support the Jewish community. The Major Gifts Officer will be responsible for the identification, cultivation, engagement, solicitation, and stewardship of prospective donors, with the capacity to make major gifts of $500,000 – $10M. This professional will also be responsible for initiating, advancing, and closing gifts to reach team metrics and revenue goals; execute long-term donor engagement strategies, solicitation plans, and recognition activities; and help donors make philanthropic decisions in alignment with their Jewish values. This position reports to the Director of Philanthropic Planning.
MORE ABOUT THE ROLE:
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Manage a dynamic portfolio of 75-100 prospects; develop a multi-year fundraising and stewardship strategy for assigned relationships.
  • Collaborate with colleagues on the development team and across the organization to maximize donor engagement and philanthropic commitments.
  • Track prospect and donor activity in the CRM database; provide activity and revenue reports as requested.
  • Develop and recommend policies to enhance fundraising efforts.
  • Oversee donor-related communications (impact reports, newsletters, special mailings, recognition events, etc.).
  • Solicit for all revenue streams, including planned giving, annual campaign, and directed giving opportunities, connecting the organization and community’s key priorities to donors who can address and meet these needs.
  • Complete other special projects as assigned by the Director of Philanthropic Planning.
CANDIDATES SHOULD HAVE THE FOLLOWING SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
  • Bachelor’s degree required; master’s degree preferred.
  • 5-10 years of experience in major gift fundraising; capital campaign/principal gift experience preferred.
  • Demonstrated success in building and sustaining relationships among high-net-worth donors and prospective donors, managing donor cultivation, and solicitations.
  • Active listener and skillful communicator; ability to think strategically to engage existing and prospective donors.
  • Superior interpersonal and communication skills, attention to detail, and follow-up.
  • Ability to recognize and seize opportunities to advance the organization to a new level.
  • Passionate about making a transformative impact in the Cincinnati Jewish community.
  • Commitment to the mission of the Jewish Federation of Cincinnati and knowledge of, or deep willingness to learn Jewish customs and practices.
