Summary Description of Position
The Jewish Federation of Los Angeles (JFEDLA) is seeking a highly motivated and dynamic Development Officer to oversee the Entertainment Network. Reporting to the Deputy Chief Development Officer (DCDO), This position is pivotal in growing JFEDLA's presence in the entertainment industry, increasing fundraising efforts, and enhancing awareness of the Federation’s mission. In addition, the Development Executive will manage and develop the Entertainment Alliance Fighting Antisemitism (EAFA). EAFA’s goal is to serve as the central advocacy arm for the entertainment industry. The Development Officer will be responsible for developing and implementing strategies that engage key industry professionals, create programs and events that support JFEDLA and EAFA’s goals and objectives in addition to maximizing fundraising efforts. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of the entertainment industry and experience in raising funds to advance an organization's mission.
Principal Duties
- Lead efforts to increase fundraising from the entertainment community through major gifts, corporate sponsorships, and events.
- Cultivate, solicit, and steward donors, ensuring a robust pipeline of contributions.
- Develop a strategic plan for the Entertainment Network, aligned with JFEDLA’s broader development goals.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with entertainment industry professionals, including executives, talent, influencers, and companies.
- Create and oversee events and programs that engage the entertainment community, with a focus on supporting JFEDLA’s mission. These may include galas, networking events, panel discussions, screenings, or exclusive industry gatherings.
- Collaborate with other internal teams to ensure comprehensive outreach and messaging to both the entertainment industry and broader Jewish community.
- Working with EAFA leadership committee, to create a plan to establish EAFA as the central organization addressing antisemitism in Hollywood.
- Actively and confidently manage a portfolio of donors primarily through field-based face-to-face donor contact, securing meetings and soliciting gifts.
- Develop and sustain relationships with qualified major gifts donors favorable to upgrading individual giving, expansion of donor-base and leadership development.
- Assist in the formulation of cultivation plans and solicitation strategies of major gifts donors/prospects.
- Attend meetings and events as required
- May carry out various functions otherwise assigned.
- Prepare necessary reports.
Additional Duties
Be available to manage additional assignments as timing and resources merit.
Education & Experience Required for Position
- Bachelor’s degree required
- 7 years fundraising experience from individuals, foundations and business leaders through diverse events and membership related activities; personal success negotiating major gifts above $25,000 from diverse sources.
- Experience working with leaders of industry
- Proven experience in nonprofit fundraising and engagement, with a strong understanding of the entertainment industry and its influencers.
- Excellent communication skills, including public speaking, written correspondence, and outreach.
- Experience planning and executing high-profile events.
- Strong relationship-building skills and a deep understanding of how to engage entertainment industry leaders and influencers.
- Ability to think creatively and strategically to develop tailored fundraising and engagement opportunities.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
- Understanding of the Hollywood landscape
- Knowledge of and appreciation for a diverse Los Angeles Jewish community preferred.
- Understanding of DEI as it relates both to workforce development and to cultural sensitivity in front of and behind the camera
- Experience in community organizing and relationship/coalition-building
- Successful candidates will be mission-driven, goal oriented, able to self-manage and to travel to frequent donor meetings outside the office.
- Flexible, creative, excellent negotiation skills.

- Demonstrated management skills; motivator; emotionally mature; sensitive to working with diverse personalities and situations.
- A hybrid work model will be implemented for certain positions. This position must report to worksite on non-remote workdays, as determined by the Federation.
