Boner Community Center (JBNC) is seeking a resilient and dependable Groundskeeper and Maintenance Technician to oversee the care and upkeep of our extensive grounds and outdoor facilities, as well as provide support for maintenance tasks across multiple residential and commercial properties. What You Can Expect Working at JBNC means embracing a dynamic environment where your day could start with landscaping tasks and end with assisting in maintenance projects. You'll play a vital role in keeping our community spaces pristine, accessible, and inviting. Key Responsibilities Groundskeeping and Landscaping : Mow, edge, trim, and maintain lawns, including large commercial and residential properties. Prune trees and shrubs, maintain garden beds, and plant seasonal foliage. Remove weeds and apply pest control treatments as needed. Ensure parking lots, walkways, and common areas are free of debris and litter.Seasonal Grounds Maintenance : Perform snow and ice removal, including salting walkways and maintaining safe pathways. Maintain irrigation systems to ensure proper functionality. Facility and Outdoor Structure Maintenance : Repair and maintain outdoor furniture, fences, and recreational spaces. Inspect and maintain lighting fixtures in outdoor areas. General Maintenance Support : Assist with HVAC, plumbing, and electrical repairs as needed. Perform minor repairs on company vehicles and groundskeeping equipment. Handle classroom and meeting space setups and tear-downs. Safety and Compliance : Maintain all tools and equipment in safe, operable condition. Ensure compliance with safety guidelines for chemical handling, groundskeeping tools, and weather-related tasks. Community Support : Assist residents, tenants, and staff by responding to work orders and addressing issues promptly. Supervise Community Service workers when assigned to groundskeeping or maintenance projects. A Day in the LifeYour day may start with inspecting outdoor spaces for safety hazards and cleanliness. You'll trim bushes, mow the lawn, and check irrigation systems to ensure they're working efficiently. After lunch, you might help clear a broken tree limb from a walkway or respond to a maintenance request for a faulty outdoor light fixture. In the winter, you'll be on standby for snow and ice removal to keep pathways safe for residents and visitors. Obstacles You May Encounter This role isn't just about maintaining beautiful landscapes-it comes with challenges, including : Demanding Physical Labor : Long periods of physical work in all weather conditions. Emergencies : Being on-call 24 / 7 for urgent tasks, such as snow removal or facility repairs. Diverse Property Portfolio : Managing multiple locations with unique groundskeeping needs, including high-maintenance and occasionally unpredictable environments. Minimal Supervision : Independently prioritizing tasks and solving problems with limited direction.You will thrive in this role if you have : Proven experience in groundskeeping, landscaping, or outdoor maintenance. Familiarity with groundskeeping equipment, irrigation systems, and lawn care products. A valid driver's license and experience with trailer towing. Physical stamina to lift heavy objects (up to 50 pounds) and perform manual labor in various weather conditions. Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently. Basic knowledge of plumbing, HVAC, or electrical systems (preferred but not required). A proactive and detail-oriented approach to tasks. Excellent communication and customer service skills.
