Those in this role provide technical staff, Lab leaders, and our Lab engagement and public relations strategists with high-quality multimedia products.As an Experiential Graphics Designer, your primary job responsibility will be creating visually compelling designs that effectively communicate APL's brand identity, enhance the user experience, and meet the needs of stakeholders. The successful candidate will work collaboratively with cross-functional teams and manage multiple projects from conception to completion.In addition you will...Lead the design and development of experiential graphics projects, including cross-campus building-wide storytelling, placemaking, informational signage, and wayfinding experiential designCreate compelling and innovative design concepts that meet stakeholder needs while complying with APL identity guidelinesCollaborate with project teams to ensure designs are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest standardsManage multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring they are completed on schedule and within budgetDevelop and maintain relationships with clients, understanding their needs and goals to deliver high-quality design solutionsStay up to date on industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in experiential graphics designQualifications You meet our minimum qualifications for the job if you...Have a bachelor's degree in graphic design, experiential design, or a related fieldHave 4 years of pure experiential graphics experience or 10 years of graphic design experience with high experiential graphics exposure, with a portfolio of work that demonstrates expertise in branding, signage, wayfinding, and experiential designHave an understanding of architectural scales as well as the ability to interpret architectural and shop drawingsHave experience in creating intent drawings to communicate materials, dimensions, design details, etc.Have familiarity working within a standards-based environment, to ensure consistency and continuity across multiple locationsHave experience collaborating with broad project teams, including client stakeholders, project managers, fabricators and printers, architects, facilities managers, and other designersHave expertise in producing and coordinating deliverables such as diagrams, drawings, conceptual sketches, and client presentationsHave light-to-moderate fabrication experience and a working knowledge of fabrication materials (acrylic, Sintra, UltraBoard, metal, wood, glass, etc.)Are proficient in design software such as Adobe Creative Suite (Any experience in CADTools is a plus but not required.)Have strong project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects and prioritize tasks effectivelyHave excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to articulate design concepts and solutions to clients and team membersHave strong attention to detail and a passion for creating exceptional design solutionsAre able to obtain a Secret-level security clearance (If selected, you will be subject to a government security clearance investigation and must meet the requirements for access to classified information. Actual compensation may vary based on factors such as geographic location, work experience, market conditions, education / training and skill level with consideration for internal parity. For salaried employees scheduled to work less than 40 hours per week, annual salary will be prorated based on the number of hours worked. APL may offer bonuses or other forms of compensation per internal policy and / or contractual designation. Additional compensation may be provided in the form of a sign-on bonus, relocation benefits, locality allowance or discretionary payments for exceptional performance. APL provides eligible staff with a comprehensive benefits package including retirement plans, paid time off, medical, dental, vision, life insurance, short-term disability, long-term disability, flexible spending accounts, education assistance, and training and development.
