Description

Are you a technical leader with a passion to deliver innovative RF systems to solve real world problems?

Do you excel at building and leading teams to architect, develop, integrate, and deliver impactful capabilities through innovative electronics designs?

If so, we're looking for someone like you to join our team at APL.

We are seeking a bold technical leader to lead the building of groundbreaking integrated RF systems for the special operations and intelligence communities. We design field-forward solutions, from concept to system architecture to development and delivery to address challenging national security problems. Our systems enable planning and decision making in domains as diverse as active threat deterrence, signal intelligence, cyber operations, machine learning, image processing, and applied data analytics. You'll join a multidisciplinary team of engineers who believe in fostering an open, collaborative work environment to solve complex problems.

As a Lead Systems Engineer, you will...

  • Lead small- (4-6 people) and medium- (12-15 people) sized multidisciplinary teams of engineers and scientists to develop the hardware and software for RF systems using board-level integration of RF and high-speed digital components, commercially available chipsets, and embedded processors.
  • Coordinate the support, evaluation, and testing of prototype and deliverable devices through lab and field testing, debugging, and troubleshooting, often under tight time constraints.
  • Engage with sponsors to understand needs, communicate ideas, collaborate, and demonstrate progress.

Qualifications

You meet our minimum qualifications for the job if you...

  • Have a Bachelor's or higher degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering, computer science, mechanical engineering, or another field relevant to the duties as described above.
  • Are passionate about and have experience with technical leadership and mentoring.
  • Have 7 years of hardware design or software development experience with demonstrated success in bringing designs from idea to design to delivery.
  • Have excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Are able to obtain an Interim Secret level security clearance by your start date and can ultimately obtain a Secret level clearance. If selected, you will be subject to a government security clearance investigation and must meet the requirements for access to classified information. Eligibility requirements include U.S. citizenship.
  • You'll go above and beyond our minimum requirements if you...

  • Understand advanced RF design and how custom circuitry can be used to realize better systems.
  • Have acquired significant knowledge of digital signal processing, modulation techniques, and software-defined radio implementations.
