Sr. Data Analyst - Graduate Systems, Reporting and Assessment
The Office of Graduate Education and Postdoctoral Training in KSAS is seeking a Sr. Data Analyst, Graduate, Systems, Reporting and Assessment. Reporting to the Director of Graduate Affairs, this position is responsible for leading the development and delivery of reports, and other analytical solutions used by senior leadership to inform graduate recruitment, admissions and enrollment and other planning efforts in the Krieger School of Arts and Sciences. The successful candidate will apply quantitative expertise to admissions and enrollment issues and leverage qualitative data to develop reports/surveys that support efforts to continuously improve our graduate programs.
Specific Duties & Responsibilities
- Work closely with KSAS Dean’s office leadership to create sophisticated data analysis to inform strategic planning and analyze the effectiveness of initiatives.
- Build relationships with KSAS Institutional Research Analyst and Central IT to optimize the collection, management, and review of admissions and enrollment data to enhance the progression of data-informed analytics.
- Oversee surveys, reports and data tracking for Graduate Education Lifecycle initiatives from admissions through conferral: e.g. admissions data, enrolled student milestones, annual reviews, enrollment statuses and classifications, time to degree; monitor compliance from individual programs and maintain accurate data.
- Responsible for complex data collection efforts related to PhD union RFI’s (Requests for information) including timely dissemination. Work with the PhD Union Relations Analyst to generate appointment letters for KSAS, maintain the system of record for KSAS PhDs, and serve as an expert on the KSAS PhD data that may be needed for the TRU-UE Local 197 union.
- Serve on relevant university and divisional systems working groups; and as lead on testing new business solutions, documenting processes, and providing recommendations; responsible for implementation on behalf of Graduate Education and Postdoctoral Training.
- Work with the Director of Admissions to develop the Slate CRM in order to integrate lifecycle patterns, analysis and outcomes; assist with efforts to ensure a process that strives to minimize bias while increasing fairness and equity for all applicants.
- Partner with the Director of Admissions to build queries, develop automated reporting functions and assist with admissions data requests.
- Foster collaboration across departments/organizations to ensure the flow of data required for analysis and to identify new opportunities.
- Present senior leadership with key findings to inform strategic planning and admissions and recruitment efforts.
- Organize material and complete assignments according to established standards regarding clarity, conciseness, style, and terminology.
- Familiarity with admissions and financial aid in a higher education setting.
- Must possess skills to convey complex ideas to non-technical audiences. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to convey information to faculty, staff, and University officials.
- Self-motivated, able to work effectively, independently and cooperatively, and has had proven success working as a team member.
- Advanced knowledge of techniques to automate report generation and delivery.
- This position is required to multi-task and prioritize multiple projects, deadlines and responsibilities, requiring a strong work ethic that stresses delivery of sound, accurate data.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office software and knowledge of key analytics and reporting software.
- Functional experience with Student Information Systems (SIS) and Microsoft Office Suite of programs (Word, Excel, SharePoint, etc.) is strongly preferred.
- Functional experience with SAP is strongly preferred.
- Functional experience with OnBase or other document imaging software is strongly preferred.
- Functional experience with SLATE or other admissions software is strongly preferred. Experience interpreting dashboard data through programs such as Tableau and PowerBI.
- Experience with statistical packages such as SAS, SPSS, R preferred.
- Bachelor's Degree.
- Five years experience.
- Additional education may substitute for experience to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula.
- Master’s Degree in a related discipline.
- Three years of work experience preferably within an academic or academic environment.
- Experience presenting key findings in a non-technical manner to clients and senior leadership.
- Formal knowledge of statistics is desirable.
- Experience interpreting dashboard data through programs such as Tableau and PowerBI.
- Experience with statistical packages such as SAS, SPSS, R preferred.
- Desire to leverage qualitative analysis into the enrollment process via NVivo or MAXQDA.

Not all candidates will be eligible for the upper end of the salary range. Education and Experience Equivalency
Please refer to the job description above to see which forms of equivalency are permitted for this position. If permitted, equivalencies will follow these guidelines: JHU Equivalency Formula: 30 undergraduate degree credits (semester hours) or 18 graduate degree credits may substitute for one year of experience. Additional related experience may substitute for required education on the same basis. For jobs where equivalency is permitted, up to two years of non-related college course work may be applied towards the total minimum education/experience required for the respective job.

The pre-employment physical for positions in clinical areas, laboratories, working with research subjects, or involving community contact requires documentation of immune status against Rubella (German measles), Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Varicella (chickenpox), Hepatitis B and documentation of having received the Tdap (Tetanus, diphtheria, pertussis) vaccination.
