We are seeking a Web Developer & Content Administrator who will be responsible for maintaining and building a cohesive web presence for the Sheridan Libraries and Museums. In collaboration with the IT team, this position will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining multiple websites on various software stacks. This position will be responsible for organizing, writing, and editing content across the websites and web services managed and supported by the Sheridan Libraries and Museums, which are hosted on WordPress and other platforms. In this newly created position, the Web Developer & Content Administrator will work closely with Library Communications, User Experience, and IT staff to define and implement our strategy for online communications, support discovery of and access to the Libraries’ collections, and collaborate on faculty-led projects supported by the Libraries. This position requires a creative thinker with technical skills and excellent visual and written communication skills, who can balance design aesthetics and information architecture against strategic marketing and communications objectives.
Specific Duties & Responsibilities
- Manages website content changes, including design and creation of WordPress custom post types for new page layouts.
- Curates the Libraries’ web presence by developing and applying consistent communications and style guidelines, and aligning the purpose, content, and design of multiple, related web properties.
- Keeps the websites fresh and up to date by working proactively with stakeholders to elicit content changes and ideas for improvements.
- Translates designs and prototypes into production quality web applications.
- Drives ongoing improvements to user experience and clarity communication of information based on user studies, usage analytics, and information architecture principles.
- Supports the Communications team to develop and implement web marketing strategy to promote the Sheridan Libraries and Museums and the services they offer, and support advertising for specific events and programs.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
