Key Responsibilities
- Client Relationship Management:
- Serve as the primary point of contact for commercial clients, providing top-tier customer service and addressing inquiries promptly.
- Build and maintain long-term relationships with clients, understanding their business needs and recommending appropriate insurance products.
- Regularly review client accounts to ensure they are appropriately covered and suggest adjustments or upgrades to policies as necessary.
- Policy Management:
- Oversee the management of existing commercial insurance policies, including renewals, endorsements, cancellations, and changes.
- Process new business submissions and endorsements, ensuring accuracy and timely completion of all required documentation.
- Review policies for accuracy, making sure coverage aligns with client needs and addressing any discrepancies.
- Monitor policy expiration dates and ensure timely follow-ups for renewals.
- Claims Management:
- Assist clients in filing claims and follow up with insurance carriers to ensure claims are handled efficiently and effectively.
- Provide guidance and support to clients throughout the claims process, ensuring they understand coverage and any necessary steps.
- Maintain strong communication with clients to provide updates on the status of claims and advocate for clients when necessary.
- Sales and Cross-Selling:
- Identify opportunities to cross-sell or up-sell additional coverage or services to existing clients based on their evolving needs.
- Support the sales team and producers by providing client insights and helping with quotes and proposals.
- Collaborate with the marketing team to enhance client acquisition and retention strategies for commercial accounts.
- Underwriting Support:
- Work closely with underwriters to obtain quotes, clarifications, and terms for new or renewing business.
- Review underwriting guidelines and assess risks to ensure clients’ needs are met at competitive rates.
- Act as an intermediary between clients and underwriters to ensure policies are tailored to the client’s business risks and requirements.
- Administrative Support:
- Maintain accurate client records and documentation in the agency management system.
- Ensure compliance with insurance regulations and company policies, following up on missing or incomplete documentation.
- Prepare and send client communications, such as policy updates, renewal reminders, and coverage summaries.
- Customer Retention and Service:
- Implement strategies to retain clients by offering exceptional service and anticipating future needs.
- Resolve client concerns or complaints efficiently and professionally, escalating issues to management if necessary.
- Proactively monitor clients’ satisfaction and take appropriate actions to ensure they are happy with their coverage and the service they receive.
- Compliance:
- Stay current with industry regulations, including changes in laws, coverage requirements, and market trends.
- Ensure all client interactions, policies, and documentation comply with industry standards, laws, and internal policies.
- Education:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in business, insurance, or a related field preferred.
- Experience:
- Previous experience in commercial insurance (3 years) required.
- Strong understanding of commercial insurance products, including property, liability, workers' compensation, professional liability, and commercial auto.
- Experience in managing a book of business and working with clients in a service capacity.
- Skills:
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with clients, insurance carriers, and internal team members.
- Excellent organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to review contracts and policies for accuracy.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook); familiarity with agency management software preferred.
- Ability to analyze complex insurance coverage and present options to clients in an understandable way.
- Licensing:
- Must hold or be willing to obtain the necessary state insurance license for commercial lines.
- Continuing education and certifications may be required to maintain licensing and stay current with industry trends.
