The Journey Home is accepting applications for a Client Service Associate. CSA provides basic day-to-day services for clients at our Outreach Center. The position is paid on an hourly basis. Schedule is generally Mondays through Fridays. CSA’s provide support for program work at the Center including Community Cafe, Clothes Closet, Food Pantry, office work, receiving donations, housing program, and other community services. There is a high level of engagement with our homeless community, which constitute most of our clients.
Qualifications and Preferences:
- 18 years of age or older
- High school diploma
- Drug free, and willing to comply with drug-free workplace policy
- Neat appearance, promotes the mission of The Journey Home
- Highly dependable, organized, with good work ethic
- Friendly, positive attitude, cordial personality
- Good communicator, able to manage conflict effectively
- Able to execute written and verbal instructions, and take initiative
- Able to remain calm in difficult or volatile situations
- Preference given to applicants with valid Driver’s License and good
driving record
- Works well with others, a team player
- Compassionate and understanding, willing to work with people in
difficult circumstances
- Able to stand for long periods of time, and be highly mobile; able to
carry 30 lbs. up and down stairs
- Bi-lingual (Spanish) a plus
Typical work hours: 7:00 am - 3:30 pm
Starting Pay: $16.00 an hour
Job Description
The Journey Home is a homeless outreach agency. We are currently looking for a Client Service Associate, who will be the first point of contact for clients at our Outreach Center. They will begin the process of helping those who are homeless and disadvantaged in Rutherford County. This position operates the front window/office at the Center. CSA is a vital part of a team of other staff members and volunteers. Staff members are expected to work cooperatively with other staff, volunteers, and clients, with a cheerful disposition, and a positive outlook.
The Client Service Associate’s responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Office:
- Answering phones
-providing basic information to callers
-taking messages for follow-up
-forwarding housing calls to case workers
- Greeting visitors to the Center, distributing forms, making sure forms are completed
- Coordinating client services such as laundry, showers, distributing needed hygiene and food items
- Filing, sorting, and distributing mail
- Stocking and distributing office supplies
- Keeping front office neat and orderly
- Completing basic computer work including data entry and other clerical or administrative duties as needed
- Processing donations
Other:
- Daily cleaning/disinfecting of floors and furniture in lobby area
- Stocking supplies in shower rooms
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $16.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40 per week
