Role Overview : As an Electrical Engineer, you will play a crucial role in supporting power plant design, substations, and equipment. Your responsibilities will include electrical engineering design, component selection, integration, fabrication, and operational support.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities :
Develop one-line, three-line, outline, and schematic drawings.
Prepare electrical equipment specifications and select components such as breakers, fuses, cables, and wiring.
Provide assistance to field service personnel and offer design solutions as needed.
Required Qualifications :
Experience : 5 years in electrical power generation and distribution systems / facilities design.
Direct Experience : Significant experience in designing plant power distribution, electrical systems, cable / breaker / fuse sizing, grounding plans, and transformer ratings.
Knowledge : Working knowledge of product development processes in a formal engineering environment and expertise in National Electrical Code (NEC) compliance.
Communication Skills : Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Collaboration : Ability to interact effectively with individuals at all levels of the organization, drafters, vendors, subcontractors, customers, and utility personnel.
Attitude : Willingness to learn, proactive, results-oriented, and service-focused.
Technical Knowledge :
Electric power meters, variable frequency drives, coordination studies, and NFPA area classification.
Familiarity with electrical power industrial standards, codes (ANSI, CSA, NFPA, NEC).
Understanding of product development processes, cost reduction practices, and schedule / budget considerations.
Special Skills :
Proficiency in MS Office software.
Use of basic electrical test equipment.
Familiarity with AutoCAD is a plus.
Education :
Electrical Engineering Degree (MS or BS) with significant experience in power distribution / utilities.
