Hours of Work :
Full-Time position with hours Mondays - Fridays, 9 : 00 AM - 5 : 00 PM
Work outside normal hours is to be expected
Must be available outside normal hours as needed
Travel :
25% Overnight Travel is required to assist other sites, attend company events, audits, and conferences, and visit regulatory authorities
Job Summary :
The Environmental Health & Safety Engineer ensures compliance with all federal, state, and local safety, environmental, and transportation regulations. This role is responsible for all aspects of the site safety and environmental programs and for implementing internal safety and environmental programs.
Duties and Responsibilities (not limited to) :
Oversee safety and environmental compliance for the Bloomfield facility, including day-to-day operations, incoming spent carbons, air permit, wastewater discharge, and stormwater requirements
Assist with EHS duties at other facilities as assigned by Manager
Participate in daily plant meetings, inspect the plant daily, and provide safety and environmental training to employees
Prepare all annual and periodic environmental reports for the assigned facilities, including but not limited to all SARA reporting, DMR, annual air permit certifications, deviation reports, and others as required
Prepare permit renewal applications and modifications for air, water, and waste permits
Develop and / or implement environmental programs for the Bloomfield facility
Support other EH&S projects for the Bloomfield facility or other locations as assigned by the Director of EH&S
Implement corporate safety and environmental requirements
Perform daily site inspections, interact with employees, contractors, and management to ensure day-to-day operational safety
Support an accident-free culture
Perform Behavioral Based Safety Observations
Qualifications :
A bachelor's degree (B.A. or B.S.), or equivalent from a four-year college or university is required (A degree in environmental sciences, engineering, chemistry, or other technical discipline / work experience is preferred)
3-5 years of EH&S Management experience is required
