Responsibilities
- Initiate and maintain safety and ergonomic programs to ensure a safe working environment and meet company goals for an injury-free workplace.
- Actively participate as a member of the Safety Committee.
- Set and achieve goals to reduce workplace injuries and related costs.
- Ensure employees are trained to safely operate material handling equipment and identify/correct safety hazards and ergonomic issues.
- Ensure all staff understand and comply with HACCP and SSOP protocols, CCPs, and the HACCP plan.
- Manage and direct material handling crews, adhering to transportation standards, timelines, and efficiencies.
- Communicate with the Shipping/Logistics Manager to address changes in shipping needs, schedule workloads, prioritize shipments, and ensure product integrity in the warehouse.
- Develop and facilitate training sessions to enhance the skills and education of group leaders.
- Manage business factors to achieve a targeted fill rate of 98.5% or better.
- Provide resolution and execute plans for addressing key shortage issues.
- Oversee material handling and placement of finished goods in the warehouse and freezer.
- Recognize employee efforts through formal programs to maintain motivation and engagement.
- Ensure adherence to operating procedures and update them as needed.
- Plan and coordinate work schedules, train and cross-train employees, and evaluate their performance.
- Foster a high standard of employee relations and continually seek improvements.
- Maintain or exceed goals for fill rate and operational efficiencies.
- Implement and adjust cost control programs to keep the company competitive.
- Oversee production employees, ensuring compliance with organizational policies and applicable laws.
- Interview, hire, and train employees; assign and direct work; appraise performance; reward and discipline employees; address complaints and resolve problems.
- Proven leadership experience in material handling, warehouse operations, or a related field.
- Strong understanding of safety programs and ergonomic best practices.
- Knowledge of HACCP, SSOP protocols, and transportation standards.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
- Experience in managing and training teams, including cross-training for flexibility.
- Proven ability to manage fill rates, inventory control, and material handling processes effectively.
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to address key shortage and operational issues.
- Financial acumen, including experience with cost control and efficiency optimization.
- Ability to develop and execute formal recognition programs to enhance employee engagement.
- Familiarity with applicable labor laws and organizational policies.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining high standards of safety and efficiency
