The expected ENTRY pay range for this position based on experience and equity within the Judicial Branch is $24.58 to $27.88.

This position is non-exempt under the FLSA.

About the Position

This position is in the Juvenile Department. The Family Treatment Court Specialist provides information and collaborates with the court, the Department of Child Safety (DCS), and treatment providers to ensure parents get the services needed as part of Family Treatment Court program. Telework is allowed up to 3 days per week following a period of training based on business needs.

Position Qualifications

Education :

  • Bachelor's degree in social work or another closely related field

Other Requirements :

  • Applicants must have or obtain a valid Arizona Driver License and reliable vehicle by time of hire
  • Our Preferred Candidate Has :

  • Knowledge of substance use disorder treatment and DCS case planning
  • Experience with navigating the child welfare and mental health systems
  • Bilingual skills in English / Spanish
  • Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities :

    Knowledge of :

  • The practices of Maricopa County Juvenile Court and child welfare.
  • Principles of casework and case management.
  • Motivational interviewing and substance use disorders.
  • Skill in :

  • Administration and implementation of screening and assessment instruments.
  • Using motivational interviewing techniques to engage and motivate parents with substance use disorders.
  • Coordinating resources and requirements of resource agencies and their representatives.
  • Communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
  • Critically analyzing individuals and situations and making sound decisions.
  • Ability to :

  • Apply the principles of case management.
  • Interact and communicate with judicial officers as well as program participants and involved system partners in a productive and effective manner.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff, agencies, families, and community members.
  • Adjust to changing circumstances, remain flexible, and adapt to changing priorities as the situation requires.
  • Essential Job Tasks

  • Establish an integrated service delivery system through collaborations with system and community partners, especially with substance use disorder treatment providers.
  • Develops a comprehensive continuum of community-based services and resources appropriate to the individual needs of court-involved parents and families.
  • Serves as liaison between the Family Treatment Court, government agencies, and community providers.
  • Obtains information and prepares detailed reports for court review; distributes reports to all parties.
  • Facilitates Family Treatment Court staffing.
  • Attends and participates in Family Treatment Court hearings.
  • Works in close collaboration with DCS case managers and community or contracted treatment providers.
  • Serves as an information source to FTC Judicial Officer in partnership with DCS and involved treatment providers.
  • Updates iCIS and Family Treatment Court database daily.
  • Completes case documentation and contact notes.
  • Works with FTC participant to complete a family care plan.
  • May be assigned the development, implementation, and management of special projects and / or various programmatic activities.
  • Working Conditions :

    Must be willing to work occasional evenings and weekends. Travel may be required.

    While performing the duties of this job, the employee may need to communicate clearly, perceive details of objects that are close by, and maintain various physical positions for extended periods, such as sitting, standing, or walking. The job may involve using hands for tasks such as typing, handling objects, or operating tools, as well as reaching with hands and arms. Occasionally, the employee may be required to move or lift objects weighing up to 20 pounds. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform these functions.

    Typically, successful candidates are hired at a salary rate up to the midpoint of the range, based on applicable experience, internal equity, and budgetary allowances.

    The Judicial Branch of Arizona in Maricopa County participates in the State Retirement systems ASRS or PSPRS. As such, mandatory membership for all full-time employees includes payroll deducted contributions consistent with each retirement system's requirements. The current contribution rate for ASRS is 12.27% and the current contribution rate for PSPRS is 5.84% and up for the defined contribution plan and 8.82% for the defined benefit plan.     Judicial Branch facilities are located throughout Maricopa County. This position may be reassigned to other locations. Assignments will be made based upon the needs of the department.
