Relationship Manager (Commercial/Business Lender) Details
- Employee Type: Full-time, Exempt (Salary)
- Minimum Starting Pay Rate: $85,000 per year. Pay will be commensurate with experience.

General Summary
Responsible for developing new commercial and consumer business; managing existing loan relationships; achieving new business, fee income, cash management and wealth management referrals, loan quality goals, and customer service goals as established in the Lending Division’s annual operating plan; working with and assisting Branch Managers and Treasury Management Personnel; complying with established operating policies and procedures; authoring Credit Underwriting Memorandums with credit analysts, maintaining current written call and pipeline reports for customers and prospects; keeping management informed on financial condition of assigned customers; completing monthly commercial watch summary reports on designated customers; responding to inquiries or requests for information; ensuring annual reviews are completed on all assigned customers; recommending downgrades and upgrades of existing customers; and maintaining appropriate records
Essential Duties
1. Develops and manages loan relationships, including specialized construction lending, commercial loans and mortgages, by performing the following:
- Jointly establishes quantitative sales objectives, with assigned supervisor, on an annual basis; this activity to be integrated with the Loan Division’s annual marketing/sales plan.
- Solicits new business from present and prospective customers; interviews applicants; maintains ongoing business relationships with present customers in order to take advantage of additional cross-selling opportunities.
- Monitors individual sales performance versus objectives on a quarterly basis; routinely discusses performance with appropriate supervisor on a frequent basis.
- Serves as a member of the Bank's sales team; makes group sales calls where these types of calls will improve the opportunity for new business development.
- Maintains a thorough knowledge of the features and benefits of all bank products and services in order to ascertain customer needs and to sell in conjunction with these needs.
- Collects and analyzes financial statements, credit, and related information; provides direct service to customers of the Bank with respect to applicable products and services; approves or rejects loan applications within individual lending authority; negotiates provisions and structures of loans.
- Prepares for and makes presentations to appropriate loan committee.
- Assists customers in obtaining specialized services from other bank departments; provides assistance to customers to address and resolve specific inquiries or service problems.
- Maintains a knowledge of bank operating policies and procedures.
- Provides written call and pipeline reports and keeps management informed on financial condition of assigned customers and prospects.
- Ensures annual reviews are completed on all assigned customers; recommends downgrades and upgrades of existing customers as appropriate.
- Monitors loan repayment activities.
- Maintaining appropriate records and providing assigned reports.
- Completes monthly commercial watch credit summary sheets for designated customers
- Maintains a high level of professionalism at all times.
2. Attend business and professional meetings as a bank representative to develop new business and to gain information and leads on new business relationships.
3. Responds to inquiries relating to individuals' particular area of responsibility, or to requests from other bank personnel, customers, etc., within reasonable time frames and within established policy.
4. Abides by the current laws and organizational policies and procedures designed and implemented to promote an environment which is free of sexual harassment and other forms of illegal discriminatory behavior in the workplace.
5. Cooperates with, participates in, and supports the adherence to all internal policies, procedures, and practices in support of risk management and overall safety and soundness and the Bank's compliance with all regulatory requirements, e.g. Bank Secrecy Act (BSA), Community Reinvestment Act (CRA), Equal Credit Opportunity Act, Code of Conduct, Privacy, etc.
6. Coordinates specific work tasks with other personnel within the department as well as with other divisions, and departments in order to insure the smooth and efficient flow of information.
7. Complies with established operating policies and procedures in order to maintain adequate controls and to support the Bank's adherence to outside regulatory requirements.
8. Communicates with management and staff personnel in order to integrate goals and activities.
9. Performs tasks which are supportive in nature to the essential functions of the job, but which may be altered or re-designed depending upon individual circumstances.

Requirements
Education/Training
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience, preferred
- Diverse lending background, required
- Specialized banking education, training, and related experience, preferred
Skill(s)
- Proficient reading, writing, grammar, and mathematics skills
- Ability to analyze financial statements
- Thorough knowledge of the features and benefits of all commercial loan and business products and services, including cash management and wealth management
- Knowledge of bank operating policies and procedures which impact loan services
