What are the responsibilities and job description for the Business Partner Coordinator position at The Kalamazoo Promise?
The Business Partner Coordinator plays a vital role connecting the business community with Promise talent to strengthen Kalamazoo’s local economy. As a member of the Workforce Innovation Team, this position serves as key liaison between Promise initiatives and community stakeholders. Responsibilities include coordinating engagement activities with Kalamazoo Promise students, schools and alumni as well as developing and maintaining partnerships within the business community.
Reports to: Chief Strategy Officer
Responsibilities and Duties:
• Creates and implements strategies that ensure relationships with business partners are mutually beneficial
• Maintains strong relationships with existing business partners through regular communication, updates, and relationship-building activities
• Identifies and pursues relationships with new business partners interested in hiring Higher Promise interns, job training graduates, apprentices and early talent
• Partners internally and connects students, Scholars and alumni in relevant programs with career related activities
• Maintains accurate partnership records and documentation in The Kalamazoo Promise database
• Develops and delivers presentations to the business community to share about opportunities to partner with The Kalamazoo Promise
• Develops partnership proposals and partnership agreements
• Contributes to the development of strategies and goals, and is responsible for meeting quantifiable goals
• Travels throughout the Kalamazoo area, meeting with business partners and postsecondary partners, fostering strong relationships
• Plays an active role, as a member of the Workforce Innovation Team, in contributing to and ensuring the success of special projects
• Prepares reports on partnership activities and outcomes for leadership team
• Investigates best practices and potential models of business education collaboration for possible adoption
Qualifications:
• 3 years of experience in partnership management, account management, business development, or similar role
• Demonstrated ability to build and maintain professional relationships
• Familiarity with partnership activation and engagement strategies
• Prior success executing projects in a timely manner and in achieving results on schedule
• Strong organizational and oral/written communication skills
• Ability to speak with tact and persuasiveness in person, when making phone calls and when giving presentations
• Effective at developing and implementing ideas and strategies during strategic planning meetings
• Proven attention to detail and thorough when completing work tasks
• Ability to persevere through obstacles and adapt to a variety of workplace situations and personnel.

Education:
BA or BS degree in Business, Non-profit Management, or Communications or a bachelor’s degree in any field with partnership development experience
Physical Requirements:
Office environment of sitting, speaking, listening, seeing, keyboarding; occasional lifting and pulling of 35 pounds; standing/walking for two plus hours at a time. Occasional local travel.
