Description
The Systems Manager provides leadership and technical support in the systems that comprise the Library's Information Systems infrastructure, supervising the staff and vendor teams. The IS Systems Manager is responsible for the server stack, the backup environment, the network environment and managing the disaster recovery availability for the organization. The systems manager is additionally responsible for the cloud storage and email environment in the library's Microsoft tenancy.
The Manager is a working position that supervises all of the functions through a mixture of guiding and managing library staff, the library's vendors, or direct professional work. The Manager collaborates with the IS Director to advise on and set strategy for on premise security, remote work place security, server stack sustainability, backup regulation, and DR ability.
The manager identifies priorities for IT projects to enhance and sustain the Library's infrastructure and establishes goals to keep projects on time and within scope. With a thorough understanding of technology systems, they will oversee the secure, consistent deployment of information systems architecture for the Library to provide redundant, robust, and secure systems. The manager will identify appropriate support requirements for the Library's infrastructure and will advise and advocate for those needs.
This is a full-time exempt position. The starting salary range is $85,000 - $95,000, negotiable and commensurate with experience, plus excellent benefits . Position is open until filled.
Job Duties (Essential Functions)
- Provides clear direction, technical leadership, and supervision to a server-side team of staff and vendors to support the goals of the Library through maintaining a highly available, secure, and performing IT infrastructure.
- Develops and oversees the systems architecture, defining standards and protocols for data exchange, communications, software, and interconnection of network information systems.
- Provides advice on evaluation, implementation, and maintenance of information systems, identifying appropriate investment for operational systems, troubleshooting with other staff to resolve system issues.
- Collaborates to define and oversee Library-wide technical standards to ensure that technology services are secure, reliable, and that there is data integrity and privacy of information.
- Maintains system recovery plan in the event of power failure, damage to system, threat actor, etc. Manages data recovery, maintenance, and backup processes and ensures requirements are met relating to server and storage management.
- Establishes IT policies regarding all physical, virtual, local and remote servers, software and computers and keeps them current.
- Liaise with Desktop Support to provide systems that meet the staff-facing and patron-facing user environment of the Library.
- Manage the library's permission environment through supervising staff and vendors, liaising with other IS staff, collaborating with the IS Director to meet the library's technology needs.
- Manage the library's cloud storage environments for user access, design, and scoping.
- Participates in after-hours on-call support.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.

Work Environment
Work is performed at the Library's Administrative Annex and Library Branches throughout the district. Primary workspace is shared with co-workers in an office environment, other work will be performed in a public space amongst staff and patrons from a diverse socio-economic community.
