Job Summary
We are seeking a passionate and dedicated English Teacher to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong commitment to fostering an inclusive and supportive learning environment for students with diverse needs. This role involves developing individualized education plans (IEPs), implementing tailored instructional strategies, and collaborating with parents and other professionals to ensure the best outcomes for students.
All our classes follow a 6:1 1 student-teacher ratio, with at most 6 students in each classroom along with a teacher and a teacher's aide. All of our students have an IEP and receive additional supports and services in a therapeutic, calm environment to access their education.
Responsibilities
- Educate students with special needs in accordance with their IEPs, adapting curriculum and teaching methods to meet individual learning styles.
- Develop and implement engaging lesson plans that incorporate early childhood education principles, physical education, and behavioral therapy techniques.
- Monitor and assess student progress, providing regular feedback to students, parents, and school staff.
- Collaborate with other educators and specialists to create a cohesive approach to childhood development and child welfare.
- Maintain effective classroom management strategies to create a positive learning environment conducive to behavioral health.
- Participate in ongoing professional development opportunities to enhance skills in curriculum development and special education practices.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Special Education or related field; Master’s degree preferred.
- Valid teaching certification in Special Education.
- Experience working with children with disabilities or special needs is highly desirable.
- Strong knowledge of childhood development principles and behavioral health strategies.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to engage effectively with students, parents, and colleagues.
- Ability to demonstrate patience, empathy, and adaptability in a classroom setting.
- Proficiency in classroom management techniques that promote a safe and productive learning environment.
