What are the responsibilities and job description for the Asphalt Milling Operator position at The Kearney Companies?
We are seeking a skilled and experienced Asphalt Milling Machine operator to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for operating the milling machine to remove asphalt and/or concrete pavement to the specific depth, ensuring that the job is done safety and efficiently. Performing light maintenance on the milling machine to ensure proper operation.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Operating the milling machine to remove asphalt and/or concrete pavement to the specific depth.
- Inspect, and perform maintenance premanufacture specification on milling machine to ensure proper operation.
- Set-up, adjust controls on milling machine for each specific project to achieve the desired depth-finished.
- Monitor the milling process to ensure that it is proceeding as planned and make necessary adjustments as needed in the process.
- Ensure that all Safety Protocols are follows at all times including wearing proper personal protection equipment, and using proper safety measures when working near traffic, pedestrians and bicyclist.
- When working near transmit stops, schools and railroads provide safe access to the public.
- Maintain accurate records of the work performed, including quantity of materials removed, time spend on each job or segment.
- Maintain company assigned vehicles and equipment according to company and safety standards.
- Communicate with Supervisor and crew members.
- Report any hazards to supervisor.
- Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor, Superintendent and Project Manager.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Minimum of 2 years of experience operating an Asphalt/Concrete Milling Machine.
- Ability to read and interpret project plans and specifications
- Good organization and problem-solving abilities.
- Valid Driver’s License to travel from project to project.
- The candidate should be able to work independently and as part of a team, as well as self-motivated.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Must be able to stand, walk, push, pull, climb, crawl and bend for extended periods of time.
- Must be able to lift and carry heavy objects (up to 50 pounds)
- Must be able to work in outdoor environments 95% of time in various weather conditions.
