Job Description:
We are seeking a highly experienced HR Generalist/Payroll Coordinator to join a growing team in Phoenix. This role is essential in managing payroll processes, HR functions, and employee support within a dynamic construction environment. The ideal candidate will have a background in payroll systems, HR practices, and compliance, with a proven ability to handle diverse responsibilities efficiently and professionally.
Key Responsibilities:
- Process and manage bi-weekly payroll for approximately 110 employees, primarily hourly, using payroll software.
- Handle payroll functions including garnishments, certified payroll reporting, and compliance with state (Arizona and Utah) and federal regulations.
- Administer onboarding and offboarding processes, ensuring accurate completion of I-9s, benefits enrollment, and other employee documentation.
- Support HR functions such as FMLA, workers’ compensation, safety protocols, benefits administration, and 401(k) management.
- Maintain accurate employee records and handle confidential information with integrity.
- Load and manage employee reviews within the payroll/HR system.
- Stay current with changes to payroll and HR regulations, attending relevant training as needed.
- Respond to employee inquiries related to payroll, benefits, and HR policies, ensuring clear communication and resolution.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in payroll and HR, with a focus on hands-on, practical knowledge.
- Experience with payroll systems (e.g., Paylocity) is a plus but not required.
- Strong knowledge of HR processes, including onboarding, compliance, employee relations, and safety protocols.
- Proven ability to adapt to change, work collaboratively, and build strong relationships with employees at all levels.
- Excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
Compensation & Benefits:
- Salary: $70,000–$80,000 annually, with flexibility for highly qualified candidates.
- Bonus: Discretionary.

- Flexible scheduling: Four 9-hour workdays (Monday–Thursday) and a half-day on Friday.
