Role Summary:
Reporting to the Finance & Project Controls RPS Director, the Project Controls Specialist is a key member of the Relay & Power Project Management Team. The Project Controls Specialist is responsible for providing hands-on project services implementation and delivery including (but not limited to) cost and/or planning/scheduling functions on minor or major projects. Reports to the Director of Finance and Project Controls on project analytics pertaining to KPI's at both the project and business level. Contributes to the design, development, and implementation of additional project controls tools and processes that will add value to both internal and external stakeholders.

The essential duties and responsibilities of the Project Controls Specialist may consist of some or all, and are not limited to, the following:
- Support Director of Finance & Project Controls in budgeting, change management, forecasting, and reporting for Cost Management
- Progress measurement and reporting for RPS projects
- Provide reports to external customers based on contractual requirements
- Provide reports of Profit & Loss to management
- Create and maintain project schedules to facilitate task and resource management reviews
- Responsible for project billing in accordance with contract billing terms
- Assist with creating project controls deliverables based on contractual requirements as specified by each client and or project
- Support PMO in developing and maintaining project plans, communication, and coordination with customers and other RPS departments as required
- Cross train with project management personnel
- Support the forecasts of project revenue, margin, cost, and completion milestones
- Interpret prime and second tier contract requirements, ensuring compliance with corporate baseline requirements and escalating non-conformances to the Director of Finance & Project Controls
- Reporting on risk on cost exposure or risks as identified
- Interpret technical documents for estimating and change management
- Review RFP documents and RPS proposal packages to ensure accuracy on scope and cost estimates

What you’ll need:
- Work Experience: Previous experience managing processes or projects with multiple vendors, timelines, and budgets through coursework or internships
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business, or related field, or equivalent experience
- Analytics/Computer Skills: Advanced Microsoft Office Skills; basic understanding of project accounting principles and processes, basic knowledge of scheduling or costing tools, procedures and processes

- Physical Environment: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is exposed to temperature conditions and noise levels prevalent in an office environment. Work conditions at customer sites, which may be actively under construction, vary from indoor to outdoor industrial & electric utility facilities that may have high voltage equipment.
Skills we prefer but don’t require:
- Experience: 4 years’ project management experience; previous experience in project management or project controls on lump sum and T&M projects; experience with engineering, procurement, and/or construction projects; hands-on experience and knowledge of cost and/or schedule management; experience in Primavera or experience in creating resource loaded project schedules using scheduling tools such as Microsoft Project; Project Management Professional Certification
