The Kensington Hotel on State Street is looking for an experienced hotel Sales Manager. We offer a generous benefit package and bonus program, along with a flexible schedule. Monday - Friday with nights and weekends required as business dictates. The successful candidate will:
Solicit and secure new accounts, as well as service clients and groups on-site. Generate hotel revenue by coordinating with individuals and corporations to schedule group rooming blocks, fill meeting space and establish catering orders. Perform contract negotiations and vendor service agreements.
Must have 2-5 years’ prior experience in hotel sales
Must be proficient in Windows operating system and Microsoft Office Suite. Experience with Opera Express helpful
Must be willing to “pitch-in” and help co- workers with their job duties and be a team player.
Ability to use a calculator to prepare moderately complex mathematical calculations without error.
Ability to effectively deal with customers, with high levels of patience, tact and diplomacy through negotiations and problem resolution
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with associates and customers.
Ability to access and accurately input information using a moderately complex computer system.
Must have the ability to communicate in English.
Maintain a professional appearance and manner at all times.

- Effectively attain assigned sales and revenue goals, as well as solicitation call goals.
- Proactively conduct solicitation calls, conduct sales tours, and entertain clients specific to Leisure, SMERF, Business Travel (BT) and/or Groups, as applicable by property.
- Grow existing relationships with assigned accounts specific to Leisure, SMERF, Business Travel (BT), and/or Groups, as applicable by property.
- Demonstrates ability to deliver banquet event orders and resumes on a timely basis (14 days) and ensure accuracy.
- Proactive sales efforts required monthly: eight sales calls, 40 targeted prospecting calls, eight site visits/networking.
- Develop and search for potential markets for hotel.
- Develop, create, and implement innovative Sales and Marketing techniques.
- Maintain competitive analysis statistical information.
- Maintain current filing system on company accounts and prepare required reports.
- Contact in house meeting planners to promote good will and foster additional and repeat business.
- Maintain strong visibility in local community and industry organizations, as applicable.
- Drive and implement special promotions relating to direct sales segments i.e. sales blitzes, etc.
- Prepare reports as requested: Sales Call Reports, Internal Sales Report.
- Attend daily, weekly, monthly department meetings an any other functions required by management.
- Ensure changes are communicated timely to impacted departments/operations leaders.
- Perform any other duties as requested by the General Manager or Director of Sales.
- Approach all encounters with guests and employees in an attentive, friendly, courteous and service-oriented manner.
- Develop a full working knowledge of the operations and policies of the hotel(s) and applicable departments.
